Bog Death Grip, your thoughts?

I’ve got one that we use with the kids in a ground blind. It’s heavy as a cinder block and it’s noisy making adjustments (we’re whitetail hunting close). But guys get it done.

I’ve got the tall Tricer and also grabbed their version of the vice for the kids. It’s more money of course but 100x better and I use it hunting in the Rockies for binos spotter or rifle.

My local Walmart carries Bog death grip for $100 if I remember right.
If you want to put eyeballs and your mitts on it

The BOG has been a great tripod for my little guy to get started shooting with a nice stable rest to shoot off of. Agree the weight of it does suck a little but still makes for a pretty solid rest

I'm curious. Question for the vet hunter who routinely make use of tripods for taking a shot....

What's like the beginning-level of Tripods that wouldn't suck to hike-in to a very steep place (i.e. lighter in weight), but that even most vet hunters would consider them to have acceptable stability for their shots?

Most of my big game hunting is hike in style in steep country. Years ago I used a small Bog Pod with a V head and that worked good for the price. From there I tried all kinds of different ones and landed on Slik tripods. You can get used ones on Rokslide regularly and they will set you back around $200 dollars. I use an Aziak backcountry lite head on a Slik 624 for most of my hunts. The Wiser Ridge Warden head would be amazing on this tripod. If we need a heavier tripod for a bigger spotter I bump up to the 634. There are way better tripods out there, but for the price those have worked well for me.
