So Im really excited about this buck. He appears to be young but with a very nice structured 4x4 set. Might be a kicker on his right antler. It's the only picture i got of his horns. I shifted the camera a bit and hopefully I'll get some more. First time he's been on a camera on the ranch all year.

Seems like most of ours start shedding them the second weekend of archery, which is August 29ish this year. Which is kind of late. So maybe they will shed slightly earlier.

With my camera up, I should have a pretty good idea of a day or so when they shed velvet.

Anyone notice they seem to grow their velvet in a cycle? Like they spend a week growing then a week not growing repeat?

No deer!!!!

Most of my water has dried up on the ranch. Making the cake use the water spots that are left. Since feed is short with no precipitation, no new grass either...we are bringing in lots of feed.

Haven't had a deer on camera in over a week.... maybe longer.

I moved cameras to another pond pretty far away from where we are feeding and hopefully we get some deer there.

Just off our property, there is a really large resevoir/pond and I wonder if they are traveling to that and watering.

My spypoint hasn't pushed pictures for 3 weeks. But it pushed tonight. I'm planning on heading up tomorrow to this area. 8/23 I have a great 4x4 on camera. Then nothing for a week.
Last night I got this guy on camera

That one looks young.

Im headed to another spot tomorrow evening on private.

Went out again this evening and check both my cameras. Nothing but cattle. I left them. I doubt I'll check them this next week. Probably get to them when I return from Wyoming.

The little cool down last week may be what I need … starting to see bucks out in daylight again on camera … albeit small ones
