Blacktail Hunt/Fish Combo in AK

Ok, so a buddy and I kinda decided this will be our next trip. Any recommendations for a transporter and fish guide? We have both whitetail deer hunted pretty much all our lives, so no guided hunt, but want to fish. Maybe hunt 3 days, fish 3 days.........

Ninilchik Charters runs a great operation in Kodiak, great crew. You set your own pace daily, they'll either drop you off to hunt, bring you fishing or duck hunting or just hang out, whatever you want to do. Highly recommend them.

Kodiak Combos. A group of 6 of us went last year and we had an absolute blast. Jeff Peterson runs a great outfit and this is one of the funnest hunts out there! We killed big bucks, cabin and food were great, and Jeff was a great dude to be around.

I would not recommend Kodiak Adventure Lodge, and if I were to do it again I'd look hard at a boat based hunt, such as Ninilchik or Homer Ocean Charters. I do think Kodiak Combos would be your next best bet if you or anyone in your party tends to get sea sick

If there’s just two of you ask around who else will be depending on the boat/crew and what they want to be doing. Some places will have six guys or so and if their interests don’t work with yours it could get weird. I’d call Jeff at Kodiak combos to start with and give him a run down of what your looking for, see what he says and get his take.

Fish tales lodge on price of whales. They have non guided deer hunting and huge steelhead.

Depends on the kind of fishing you want to do. Sept would be prime for alpine Sitka Blacktail hunt and coho fishing in the rivers. Second half of Aug for ocean fishing and alpine hunting. This is for SE AK and their is opportunity up and down the panhandle. You can go the lodge route or do it on your own.

Looks like Kodiak Combos has got it covered in Kodiak at the end of Oct and Nov.
