Blackovis base layer options

Im going to grab some of the blackovis base layers they have on camo fire but haven't used/seen any in person before and had some questions to anyone that has. I don't have any merino base layers yet if that helps.

First, how does the Kodiak color work when worn as an outer layer while hunting on warm days? It's that or the charcoal color.

Second, I'm really torn between the 190 weight quarter zip and the 230 weight quarter zip with the hood? I've never used a base layer with a hood before so thats what I'm really wondering about. Would you ever wear them both on cold days or would that get annoying to wear 2 long sleeve merino shirts?

I'm also planning on getting Merino blend t-shirt and some boxers to try as well. I was planning on getting some FL gear but this will be a lot cheaper to try out.

The Kodiak color works well in my opinion. Be aware that their sizes can be wonky and if you buy from Camofire you have ten days to return for an exchange.

I purchased a 190 weight tee and a 230 weight hoodie in XL after hearing they run small.(I normally wear a large) the 190 weight fit fine and the hoodie fit more like a medium.

Thanks for the quick response. I went ahead and ordered the hoodie in a Large. I'm between M and L in most things but couldn't get myself to order an XL so hopefully it works.

For reference. I’m an XL in most clothes, but really wish I had gone with a 3X for the hoody. Attached are photos of a 2X Black Ovis hoody compared to an XL First Lite Wilkin.

Great quality, but DEFINITELY size up.

Thinking about grabbing the black Ovis 1/4 zip or hoody also. I’m 6’4” 200lbs, normally an XL.

Should I size up to the 3X? I might wait a bit anyway, I was looking through last years camofire emails, and I noticed a nice sale on them mid-August.
