I had a Boss Hogg last year, sold it and bought a MBG Ascent to try. I like it so far. Lighter than the spot hogg but i cant speak to how it will hold up after being abused compared to the SH. I didnt like where my dial was on the Boss Hogg as i had to buy an offset bracket for the tight spot quiver. Both seem built to last. Dont think you could go wrong either way.

My black gold was a rattle trap. The pins rattled something fierce. My spott hogg hunter hog it hasn't budged ever. Set it and forget it.

Yeah I would like to give the MBG Ascent a shot but need to justify buying one since I don't plan on selling any of my Hogg Fathers until I know I really like the ascent. I guess my only real bone to pick with Spot Hogg is not any of the design but simply weight. Don't really notice it on any of my Hoyts but boy do I notice the extra weight on my Elites.

Well let's say I decide to give it a shot. I know I want a 3 pin and a 6 inch dovetail but does anyone have any advice on the the head or ring color. Any help would be nice if I decide to order a custom Ascent.

I went with 5 pin ascent. white 2" ring. color is personal preference. either ring would be fine. a smaller ring may allow you to dial down a tiny bit more before having fletching contact with really long shots..??

I started with a Hogg It and it broke while shooting leagues indoors. I think it was the 2nd axis that broke. They fixed it no questions. I had them custom the pins at the same time and they only charged me $10 for everything including shipping. Then I got a 3-pin Hogg Father. The windage lockdown always rattled loose. I sold it and got a Real Deal 7-pin wrapped. IMO, this is the strongest sight made to date by anyone. I still have it but I bought a MBG custom from Steve. It is the Pure Gold 75 Series in a 5-pin with 6" dovetail. It is by far the best sight I have used. I do have one issue with it. Since the mounting bolts are socket head cap screws instead of flatheads, there is a chance that it could pivot from rough use (IE: a fall or strapping it too tight on a pack) and your POI could be off; something that happened to me. I use my bottom pin (60 yard) as my floater and I can shoot out to about 115 yards before I run into blades or fletching. The extra weight out front is very noticeable but it feels like another stabilizer. I do think that the SH pins are better but the auto darkening in the MBG eliminates any halo effect. If your MBG pins rattle, twist the micro wheel up or down and that issue should go away. I think the newer Delrin nuts are a tighter thread anyway. Whatever you decide you cannot go wrong with either for features, quality, durability and customer service.

Dustin squared me away. My screws were loose (I know right). The issue above with supposed shifting is false. Sorry, fellas.

MBG's new sight is like SH's Real Deal but with 2nd and 3rd axis. It should be a hot seller!
