Black Gold or stick with Spot Hogg

Hey guys need a little advice, considering giving the Montana Black Gold Ascent with standard 1 3/4 head and 6" dovetail. I've got two Spot Hogg Hogg Fathers 3 pin. They are incredible, but I never was crazy about how you have to use a dial rather than a true slider and let's be honest, it's a fairly heavy sight.

I'm loving everything so far about what is offered on the MBG Ascent but don't really know anything about them. Would I be losing any quality or performace/durability?

I checked out the new sight from Spot Hogg called the "Fast Eddie" at ATA. Its pretty sweet. Might want to wait for that one to come out. Its fixes some of the above mentioned dislikes you have.

I have the MBG Ascent on my Elite Energy. Perfect in every way....... except it seems vulnerable because it extends out kinda far.

I like the sight picture of a pin further out, but I hate the potential hangups and bumps a sight gets when further out then the ends of the riser bolts.

I looked at the fast eddie prototype. Maybe it was just the " example" of their new product? I did not care for the plastic gearing. I cannot see that holding up when it's wet and frozen in place. I'm kinda particular about what I buy when made of plastic. It's a rather low cost version of the spot Hogg products in my opinion.

Have you looked at the mbg pure gold. I went from a spot hogg to a pure gold 75 and absolutely love it

I'm liking the idea of how I can customize it. Definitely want the 6 inch dove tail, I'm a used to having the housing way out there with my hogg fathers. I spoke to Steve Speck at S&S Archery and I'm hooked on the Ascent just don't know if it's fully worth it.

I have an Ascent with the standard head and there's only one thing I would change. If I was to do it again I would get it with the Vengeance head instead since the pins on the standard FP head are a pain in the butt to adjust compared to a Spot Hogg. Like everything else about the sight.

I have a custom MBG Ascent from S & S. (4" dovetail, .010" single pin) Out of all the archery equipment I have, this is the only piece that I do not consider experimenting with anything new. Most of my buddies have Spott Hoggs (boss hogs or hog fathers) MBG pins are brighter (all those spott hogg buddies have external lights on them, which is not necessary on the MBG) the MBG is lighter. the slider and lock are solid and its 3rd axis adjustable.

i wasn't easy on my bow in CO year (rain, brush, etc) no problems with the MBG.

I will admit that the Hogg Father has a better dove tail adjustment feature (SH has a toolless thumb screw...MBG has an allen head screw)

I think both companies are great, the cream of the crop when it comes to bow sites. For me, the quality and durability of Spott Hogg sites are unmatched. I have taken a tumble/slide down while bow hunting back up and in 7 miles. The Hogg is the one thing on my bow I know will be fine after bouncing down a slope.

IMHO the new MBG "target base" with the vengeance or pure head with 3-5 pin slider and micro adjust will be a do all sight, spots, 3d and hunting. I will try and get one of those soon.

The pins on the pure gold mbg are a dream as they're micro adjustable on solid.

I have an ascent 3 pin and I absolutely love it! IMO The quality and durability is just as good or better then the Spot Hogg.

I have shot both MBG accent and several Spot Hogg sights. Currently using a Tommy Hogg single pin. Both are cream of the crop sights. I prefer a Spot Hogg. Seems better built and more durable/ robust.

Shot both as well, MBG for many years. Switched to Spot Hogg last year just to try it out and I like everything about them just a touch more than MBG. Will stay with SH for awhile I assume. I like the easily adjustable and super micro ability of their pins, didn't have that with MBG.

I shot sliders for years and when spot hogg introduced their dials, I found it to be a much better system. At least for me. I like the way the dial makes big adjustments quickly. The other part of it, is that I just love working on spot hogg equipment. All adjustments are well thought out and fairly intuitive. Especially adjusting second and third axis. Durability is second to none. CS is beyond reproach. MBG makes a great product, but for me personally I think they are two steps behind Spot Hogg.

Axcel AccuTouch I'm not sure I have seen a better all around single pin slider.

The great feature ( among many) is the ability to set the range with a little set of 6 slider blocks or "clickers". When you turn the dial down the sight pin clicks in at each one. You can set the range without looking by just counting the clicks as the dial is rotated.

It's as robust as any sight made, and has dial adjustable windage with a lock down. I'm pretty critical of single pin sights. I have quite a few here. I think this one really nails every design feature a guy could hope for. It's worth a look anyway.

I'm currently shooting the Trijicon single pin sight. But I think this may be swapped in place of that. It's just to well thought out to pass up for me.

I have shot spot hogg for a long time. Don't think I will ever change. They are just built to last!
