I run 175gr Federal Powershock out of my 7mm Mag since it’s what I could readily find at the local hardware store. Their fat slides on the skin and blocks up holes quick as they run. I hunt in thick brush/timber so shots are close and over bait, so you can’t see if they run off and blood can be hard to find. You also don’t want a wounded bear in brush when your tracking em down. Like others have said, they aren’t hard to kill. But you don’t want them wounded and they can be hard to find.

Bears are actually pretty squishy. I can’t list the amount I’ve seen killed with a simple 30/30 150gr. I used the same deer set up for bear. 308 150gr Remington cor-lokt. Just make sure your familiar with bear anatomy and your good
