Bipod + Trekking Pole = Tripod? Or, how to mount an arca plate on a terkking pole. . .

Hi All,

I just mocked up this crude arca mount for my trekking pole and bipod. Any ideas of a better way to attach the arca plate to the trekking pole? This paired with a head mounted on top of the trekking pole seems like an interesting concept. . .

Thanks for any leads!

chiming in that that's a pretty cool concept! I bought a trailpix tripod adapter years ago that uses two trekking poles and a third pole, like a short tent pole. Might not be available anymore, but the trekking poles go upside down, the point goes into the adapter. Works OK for a camera, worthless IMHO for glassing.

Hope you show us the final solution.

If it's solid enough, I'd just run it like that and save yourself a few bucks. Who cares if it doesn't look factory. Props for the MacGyvering 👊

I made something similar to utilize my Atlas bipod as a second tripod for filming if I needed to shoot off the tripod. The leg was just an old carbon fiber center post from a leofoto tripod and a cheap lightweight ballhead from Amazon. It was extremely stable, but limited in height. My biggest gripe is it didn’t have a dual purpose function to justify the extra 8oz approx. So I ended up scrapping the idea. IMG_6123.jpeg

Ha, cool!

The Ulanzi tt35 tripod is similar to this.
You get the tripod, the trekking poles and the trekking poles connect together to make a tent center pole. Also Comes with a ball head that can be snap into top of trekking pole handles.
