Bipod Suggestions

Hello all, I’m looking into a good quality bipod that will QD for use in and out of the scabbard on my horse. I have a 12.5-13lb 300 win, in the past I’ve used my pack (if on foot) and tripod shooting sticks (out to 300-400 yards) Just looking for something that will be solid enough to handle the recoil and weight and maintain stability, (with cant lever)
I’ve been looking at the spartan, atlas, tricer, & MDT. Any recommendations on what would be good in this setup? (I had a swagger bipod and it was not solid and POI changed quite a bit.

I just got a MTN Gear Mountain bipod for my 300winmag and am very happy with it so far. Only 6oz and has lots of adjustment in height and leg angle. Very low profile and can attach and detach quickly if you would rather keep it in a pack than on the gun. Definitely worth looking at

I have had Spartan bipods in the past the only thing I did not like was that there is not much adjustment functionality

I haven't kept up with the ever changing options very well. Still shoot off harris, atlas, and spartan depending on application. But i do wonder about how you said the POI changed with a swagger bipod and how other options may have the same issue depending on why that shift occurred. If they are attaching at the same point, might have the same impact?

If ok with the weight, MDT ckye lightweight is the gold standard in my opinion.

I think my issue was the rail adapter I had, it was a warne sling stud pic rail. I think it put too much out on the forend and messed with the free float in the barrel, later after testing it I ended up dropping the gun on the bipod with the legs out off my kitchen counter and it pulled the stud out of my stock so I had to fix that, it made me weary of bipods but I drew a LE bull tag this year and was going to try a bipod again. (But have a rail installed closer to the trigger guard behind the sling stud, and check the float distance with pressure)

I like my Gunwerks for hunting, atlas for bench work. Just picked up a Tricer to compare as well.

I would take a strong look at the Hatch Outwest bipod if you want something that will allow for seated shots. Their Gen 1 is on closeout for $300. It attaches to the rifle very quickly, and adjusts super fast. I considered the Tricer, but it’s not as fast for attaching to the gun, and the leg locks are slower than the Hatch. The Hatch is 5 ounces heavier than the long leg configuration of the Tricer. @huntnful I believe is still happily running a Hatch.

I have both the Tricer and the MDT ground pod and hands down the tricer is the better option. If you are looking to long range hunting, consider a tripod.
