I tried a lot of binos and made the mistake of spending some time with a pair of Swarovski 12x50 EL’s and now own them....They are in a class of their own ! I’ll buy a Swarovski spotter next year....plus I bought a pair of 8.5x42 EL’s in 2004 for $1400 and sold them this year for $1300....Value !

PM sent. You can get a brand new set of Swaro SLCs and a brand new Swaro ATS 20-60x65 within your budget (minus tripod and other accessories) if you are patient.

It would be our pleasure to discuss the different options with you. IMO, if this is a once in a lifetime purchase of best quality stick with the European brands on binoculars and the European brands and Kowa on a spotter

Recently went through the same process, I couldn't afford Swarovski EL's or the Swarovski 95mm spotter.
I didn't see that SLC's for my purposes worth the extra money than the bino's I chose.

I still feel I have purchased for the long term, and keep in mind it's still a crap load of money when your raising kids, trying to save for down the track etc. in my view all those things need to be considered.

I don't think I'll miss any game due to the optics I chose and I feel they represent excellent value for the performance.

Meopta Meostar B1.1 HD 10x42
Meopta Meostar S2 82mm with 20-70 eyepiece
Promaster 525 carbon fibre with spch 20 head

Happy with the above.
I have the same combo of binos and spotter, along with an Outdoorsmans medium tripod, panner, and pistol grip head. Like pc3, I feel it's a great value. Bought the spotter used for $1600, and Outdoorsmans products used for less than retail. Very happy with the set up, and don't feel like I'm missing anything. Yes, there's a weight penalty, especially with the spotter and tripod, but it is worth packing to me.
