Bino question: Vortex Razor HD or Swarovski?

I have never understood the warranty topic on binocs. Binocs are not a flat screen tv full of electronics. The chances (although not Zero) of needing the warranty is VERY low. Warranty is not a consideration when I buy optics.

Another vote here for saving up for the Swarovski.

And yet another vote for the Meopta's if you don't want to do the extra saving. Your Mileage (eyes) May Vary but to mine (and those of others I trust) these are the superior optics.

And as far as warranty goes, a guide I hunt with in AZ has had to use the warranty on his Razor spotter - twice. Sure it was replaced under warranty both times but he was s.o.l. for the rest of his seasons (except for my hunt since I brought my own spotter as backup).

no knocking the RAZORS..my brother has them and they are no slouch. and the way he tosses them around, believe me, he needs that warranty.

BUT if you can afford the Swavorski glass..i dont even know why we are having this discussion. get them!!

Leica has a new bino out, but tripod mounting them seems like a PIA. they are supposedly amazing..

i respectfully disagree. i think hiking climbing..crawling. hell western hunting in general is hell on glass. i once started a belly crawl stalk on a mulie. i was in the zone and only the pain of my Leica's pushing into my chest reminded me that i was just about to grind those things into the earth.

my buddy took his binos off his harness to put them to his tripod. afterwards, he took them off his tripod and looked thru them handheld..he dropped them absentmindedly to get his bow ready, not realizing they were no long attached to his neck..the hackysack level of footwork to save his binos was youtube worthy.

FTR, Leica replaced a scratch lens for me, no charge. it was a tense 8 weeks waiting.

while i dont shop glass based on warranty, i do give it a thought. hunting is hell on gear.

Unfortunately, things happen!!!!! (At least in my world.)

I've had to use the Swarovski warranty twice, both times MY FAULT and both times, I was very pleased with their customer service.

All great points of view and do not disagree. I guess my point was I don't buy based on warranty.

Thanks.

A friend has both binos and brought them to a 3D shoot this weekend. He brought the Swarovski on Saturday and I noticed every time I went to bring them up to my eyes even before I got them aiming at what I wanted to look at I was like holy smokes, the clarity in this class is incredible. And they were not even the EL's.
On Sunday he brought the Meoptas and they were great but I didn't get that initial Wow every time i looked through them.

So the search is on for me for a pair of Swarovski EL 10x42. Search ebay and may put a bid on a pair.

If anyone get wind of a pair please let me know.

Try to keep track of the abbreviations and the different types of binoculars. So I don't end up buying the wrong ones. Can anybody tell me what this six, three* means?

They seem lower priced than the others.

Me too! Twice - I sat down quickly on my second pair of Swaro's when a gobbler hammered my call unexpectedly at short yardage. I plopped down and crunch - broke the connection b/w the barrels. I'm not gonna share how I totalled another pair.

Im following this post myself. Been thinking razor because of the warranty, but after reading peoples experience with the swaros' I may hold out and REALLY blow my budget on the swaro 10x42. And from there....I will have to decide on the lighter slc, or the EL
