Bino Harness Reccommendations

I’ve tried an embarrassing amount of bino harnesses and (probably) have settled on the marsupial enclosed version. The harness is by far the most comfortable for me (short/stocky build) and the layout works for what I want on my chest.

I use my phone/onx for nav and did notice the magnets affecting it-I changed my compass settings to true vs magentic north and that seems to have eliminated the issue. FWIW, I hunt “front country” and a slight bearing variation will at worst be inconvenient for me, where it may be more critical for others.

Do you have a pic or video of this?
I'd have to find one, but these are better anyway direct from Marsupial's website:

I ran the OG Alaska Guide Creation "large" for the better part of a decade with my 10x56 Zeiss Victory RF binos. I then bought Swaro EL Range TA 10x42 and picked up the Ravus model. It was okay but I didn't care for how the pockets attached. I now have the T&K harness and like it so far.

I love the Marsupial BUT it squeaks horribly with my NL Swaros when I take them in and out. Spoke to Marsupial, even got a replacement pack, but the same issue. Maybe for rifle it’s ok, but archery is a big no. Settled on the g3 Kuiu. Simple and good function. Too bad, I like the marsupial ergos and design.

I’ve had KUIU and Sitka, not a fan of either, but I think it’s more a fact I’m not a fan of a harness at all!

I prefer my Rick Young most times!

I really like my Alaska Guide Creations. I also have the more minimalist Solo Hunters (horn hunter). AGC is more robust and more versatile and keeps the world out. The Solos let a bit of dust in and I would assume snow also, they just don't close as tight.

Started out with the kuiu pro pack but for some reason it would squeak every time I took a breath. Not enough to really matter but enough to be annoying. Finally got tired of it and decided to try the T&K bino harness. Been using it for about a year and it’s been great so far. Well designed and pretty bombproof, plus made in the USA and great CS. If I had to nit pick it would be that the snaps for their Molle attachments (RF pouch, admin pouch) will occasionally click if I’m doing too much bouncing around. Not really a big deal since that’s when I’m moving hard and fast anyway, but I definitely notice it at times.

I've been running the Muley freak set for 3 seasons and love it, lots of space, price was decent, fits vortex 10x42 very nice and has a removeable floor for bigger binos.

I know it's old school but, I swear by my Alaskan Guide Creation Kodiak Cub Max. I like that when the lid is not tethered down it still flops down and covers the binos in poor weather. I don't know if it is still available with the older back harness (which is more breathable) but, I do like it more than the newer style. Both harnesses fit well under a pack (if you are using one). I run pretty much a straight harness (or harness and a pack) but, there are a ton of accessories if you want to go that route.

I’d like to bring this topic up again.

I have the new marsupial no mag and have had it for two seasons. I want to get rid of it.

I can’t stand how tight it is and everyone is telling me “keep using it” I have and it’s not loosening up. Marsupial also will not make a medium no mag range finder pouch and my Leopold RF requires two hands to remove bc it’s so snug.

I want a magnet version but I don’t want to sacrifice the coordination for out west trips. I was looking at the game changer from MF but after reading further into the allegations ima pass

How did you turn on true north in onx or have you had any issues with true north since?

I went back on forth on the mag/no mag for weeks. Finally just bought the Marsupial magnet version. Have not had a single problem with the way I hunt. Use OnX for mapping and waypoints, not reliance for navigation at all times. Not saying there is no chance of interference but it didn’t affect anything on elk/deer trips for me. I just bought another one in black multi-cam. Love the way it seals up when riding UTV plus I carry the same possibles every trip. Im
Sticking with it.

It’s in the iPhone settings under Compass-there’s a toggle to use True North. (I assume android would be a similar deal, you just search for “compass”in your phone settings).

No issues so far. I just make sure to give onx a few seconds to orient when I pull out my phone. Trust but verify.

I’m a big fin of my agc Ravus flex. No magnets, lid stays down and out of the way if I want to shoot my bow with it open, which I do when practicing. I can also open and close everything with one hand. On top of that it’s made in the USA, has a great warranty, not that I ever see needing it…..and I got it plus a rangefinder pouch, side pouch, and bottom pouch all for $200……have to pay quite a bit more for other brands.

One thing to note about the harness on the agc vs others like the marsupial. For me I could feel where all the straps joined on the marsupial in the middle of my back when I wore a backpack. The agc is one piece and a much smoother and lower profile harness and thus much more comfortable for me.

I don’t remember what I posted earlier, don’t want to look so I hope I’m not repeating myself, if you’re close to loving Marsupial but not quite; get yourself the Eberlestock bravo. It’s a no magnet harness that is almost identical to marsupial but has a much better front pouch.

I just came across that this morning but I am not a fan of the underpouch being attached by velcro.

I watched a review and it also seems to be a very loud material like the latitude ranger packs and I'm not a fan of loud material in general.

I'm just gonna sell my no mag 2.0 and no mag RF as a bundle and get the magnet enclosed version.

Thanks!

I came back to marsupial after giving the acg ravus a shake. Marsupial just has it dialed in. The ravus is bulkier than it needs to be. The side pockets are so small, in comparison to marsupial, they’re non functional. The top zippered pouch on the ravus is again, so small, in comparison to marsupial’s front zippered pouch, it’s non functional.

My ravus will be for sale in the classifieds soon.
