Anyone have any opinion on the depiction of the bone and vitals on these targets? I love mine and like shooting at a real elk vs a dot... but i sort of feel like the shoulder bone is depicted too far forward??

PS: this is my 100 yard group... I think they all would have done the trick.

Thanks Bob... That was my question... the bone depicted on the target is all in front of my arrow placement. Only the top two were touching the bottom bit of the scap. I typically aim a bit further back (you can see when most of the holes are.) I got this thing to practice keeping them tighter to the shoulder. I feel like in the heat of the moment I tend to go "mid mass" and get a little far back. I think the vitals are right... just maybe the bone is a bit too far forward?

Yeah... vitals are ok, bone is too far forward... though it does appear to be somewhat guartering away, maybe that is what they are going for. EIther way i want to hit about 2 inches lower and 3-4 to the right.

When I got mine I thought that the front shoulder was a little far forward and the heart sat a little low. It is nice to shoot at something life sized though even though I had big holes in mine after about 2 weeks. Good thing they make replacement vitals.

I think you are right. That shoulder is much further forward than most think. I think it is why SOOOOO many people shoot elk too far back. The main reason i got this is to practice being comfortable shooting further forward for myself and my wife... I just wondered if this one was too far forward

Nice group, but I'd personally be aiming 6" back and a hair lower, on the quartering shot... for 2 reasons, double lung, and less chance hitting the bone... just my opinion. Like said, you should be eating elk this year.

Great 100 yard group but shots are into or way too close to the shoulder/scapula plate.

Thanks guys. I know that my shots are not where I want them... that is why i started this thread. I was aiming 6 inches back and about 4 lower... but at 100 yards with a little breeze i hit too far forward.

It was curious to me that even though I thought it was too far forward, the placement of the bone on the target, all but one of the shots were still clear of the bone. So i was surprised and wondered what you guys thought.

thanks
Joe
