These tents are available on Massdrop right now for over $100 off. I haven't ever used one but I have heard good things about their tents before and they are pretty light, so I thought I'd pass it on for anyone looking for a nice roomy solo tent or two man.

Skimmed through the review... I have a 1p chinook and a 2p rev with porch. Regarding the chinook keep in mind it is designed as a 4 season tent that can convert to a 3 season tent. So as far as comments in the review regarding weight i think its not over designed as far as possibilities of weighing less. I have both inners for mine and if i remember right there was only 2 ounces variance between the solid and no seeum. Usage of either depends on temps for me when deciding. Overall a great concept if the design fits your criteria....

I have a question about the overhang by the doors. It does not appear to have much can you have the door open and not get rained on? Or do you need the 3rd pole to attach the door fly to give you a bit of a rain gutter? Or does the Revolution have the better rainfly overhang by the doors? Thanks

They have similarities but are different... The 3rd pole on the chinook offers more structure to its design it really does not change the shape of fly or offer more fly. It really does give substantial assistance in providing more stability to it for snow load, wind etc.... The rev with porch differs from the rev by adding the 3rd pole to give more overhead protection within fly area. It really opens things up compared to the rev. With saying that i have success with both in the same conditions but the rev with porch does offer more rain protection with one door open. The chinook has the nod in variable weather for me as the rev with porch doesn't buck the wind as well ive found.
