Sign, game trails, bedrooms, not necessarily applicable to west of the cascades because it’s a giant salad bowl but food and water sources in more arid climates or areas that those things are less prevalent

What was said above plus a pile of time in the woods. If i see a good buck or track somewhere I try to put a camera close by in a pinch point that should funnel them. Usually if i see one good buck in a spot they’re there for a reason and I’ll get more good bucks even if i kill the original buck. Lots of time in the woods lets you see what they like and what they don’t and how they move and escape across the landscape so you can predict where they’ll go.
