I’m on my second round of a very hard to find slow leak in my insulated AXL. Last time I was very impressed with big Agnes customer service but I’m annoyed I am back here again. Anyone have experience with both this and thermarest set ups? Is this just a feature of a floorless tent (with ground sheet) and a sleeping mat like this? Or are the neo-air more durable?

The closest thermarest equivalent to the axl, the neoair nxt , is a lot more durable. I have both. I thought the axl was going to be amazing but it’s just way too thin and fragile to trust in my opinion. I happily carry the extra handful of ounces for a much more reliable pad. Maybe see if they’ll replace it with a rapide sl. I haven’t used one personally, but they’re supposed to be great, and more durable then the axl

That’s super helpful, thank you!

If you search the commentary on the BA stuff...you will find a high % failure rate. I had one many years ago that failed on the first inflate.

The thermal rest stuff is top notch with a lower failure rate. for my UL hunts I run the latest Therma rest and its excellent but you have to add strips of diluted silicone or seam sealer to keep from sliding on it.

Copy, thanks. I think it's time to do some research, though the neoair nxt looks pretty slick at first blush. And I love a good DIY project to keep from slipping!
