That reads like a rationalization of why the action of a republican president -supposed friends of gun owners - diminishing gun owner's access to a certain gun accessory was actually a favor to gun owners. I don't buy it.

I learned a long time ago, attacks on your rights can come from any political party. All citizens would be smart to do their own research and not trust the media to feed the narratives.

And trades people. We did a disservice to our youth telling them that going to college for a 4 year degree was the only path. We need electricians, plumbers, diesel mechanics, etc. And those are good paying jobs with a path to the American dream.

Fully agree with this, as an engineer. If the trades were presented as more of a path, I certainly would not have gone on to college, or at least for the degree I came out of it with.

Family owns an Industrial Distribution business (valves, fittings, etc.) and I have been telling friends and family since I was in Middle School that if it wasn't for the family business (eldest son, woohoo) I would be in the trades.

I can go to a plant and half my customers (fitters, instrument techs, etc.) are driving brand new model year trucks fully decked out, work 3-4 days a week, have insane benefits and retirement packages, get all of hunting season off, and zero job competition (100% security).

One buddy heeded my call in High School and makes 6-figures running his own welding outfit now. Everyone else I went to school with either left the country or is broke in Seattle living "the dream" on Instagram.

With the inceeasing polarization of the American political landscape, there is such an effort portray us=good and them=bad. Recent commentary about COVID-relates international travel bans are a great example. Trump was lauded by conservatives for pushing them early in COVID and many of those same people criticized Biden for very similar policy. These folks can't see past who is proposing the policy to evaluate it on its merits. Really sad.

People are criticizing Biden because of the reaction from the left when Trump did it. I haven’t heard anyone criticize Biden’s policy just the blatant hypocrisy from the left.

I'm not sure I understand the article, but is the author trying to say that banning bump stocks by name (which trump did) makes it harder to change the definition of a machine gun to include semi-automatic firearms?

I'm not sure I agree. Congress would have to amend the NFA (26 USC 53) to change this definition which, by the same law, informs federal regulations (27 CFR 53 in this case). There is limited interpretation to be made, but when I read the definition of a machine gun (26 USC 53.5845) I don't see a way that a semiautomatic firearm can be covered by that, unless fitted with a device specifically designed to increase rate of fire and minimize user input.


Notably, the Executive branch has no direct hand in the making or changing of law. Only the enforcement. So, if you don't like what I wrote above, vote red in 2022.

very real possibility of a purge of conservatives in the future after we are disarmed.

why else would they want to disarm us? it does not reduce crime/deaths since the cities with the most gun restrictions generally have huge crime/murder issues.

the socialists are on their way to total control and they want to crush nationalism and end the USA as we know it, 10-20 million new 'immigrants' may very well be added to the citizenry and voter rolls in the next few years so forget any chance of voting these people out......which may be impossible anyway because I do not see how biden received 80 million 'legitimate' votes.

the whole woke/white privilege thing reeks of a plan to shut up 1/2 the population, which we actually see happening today......it is very disheartening if you look at the whole picture and see the direction it is going.

200 days of riot/burning/looting/violent attacks and the liberals said noting bad about that, they actually enabled it to a large degree and one day of somewhat similar behavior on 1/6 and they are screaming holy hell about it......if you do not see where this is going I cannot help you.

for the reasons above and some others I will not be giving up or registering any firearms.
