Super anti 2a with the free guns the give out with memberships. Bastards, its all a plot- only giving them out with the hope of taking them away.

It’s unbelievable how bad Rokslide seems to be at jumping to conclusions and canceling people considering everyone here is so "anti" cancel culture.
Which roksliders are members of cancel culture? The ones sending personal attacks via PM because of a joke or the ones deciding not to give money to an organization with numerous high level leaders with questionable political associations?

I wonder why nobody claims SCI is anti hunter or anti 2A.

The BHA is exactly what they appear to be. It’s a group disguising as representing hunters, while offering nothing but being a PAC for liberal politics.

The only thing worse for the future of hunting besides openly opposing it is, to set smugly in the middle and try to tickle reality with lame excuses why you won’t pick a side.

Polarized is where we are and there is nothing wrong with that. Hunting rights should be guarded like our 2A rights. Spare me the “I’m a hunter” bit. You might be. But, if your politics or acceptance on issues contradict what’s best for hunting, then you are the enemy of hunting. It’s that friggin’ simple.

I could care less if there is public lands if hunting is no longer allowed. Which by the way is where I see the BHA filling its intended fundamental role. Protecting lands for the hikers, bikers, bird lovers, wolfies, and everyone else. Except……….hunters. All while claiming to be hunter friendly.

Enjoy your beers fellas. Swap sone stories of the deer and duck you killed. When you get serious about helping hunting, vote that way instead of rehearsing lies and feel goods fed to you by bought and paid for liberal lobbyists.

And joe Biden owns a shotgun, he’s definitely a big 2a advocate

I would say by definition, the ones that are scared of an organization that doesn’t have the same core values at peak importance as themselves.

Looks like we need a BHA-free safe space for you guys, sorry that was so triggering.

To be clear, I could give two shits about BHA, I just think it is ridiculous that no one on this website can seem to get their heads wrapped around the fact that a Public Land and Access organization focus’s on just that rather than the 2a. Just like the Elk Foundation, or the Wild Sheep foundation. They all have their place, the NRA makes the 2a their focus, because, well it is.

Like an earlier poster said, you don’t go to a hardware store and be pissed that they don’t have the jeans you are looking for. I work for an excavation company, people don’t get pissed that I don’t install gutters for them.

I see your point, and I generally vote right. That being said, look at Montana this year- I could very well be wrong, but I can’t remember seeing a single good bill for hunting put forward by a republican, everything I saw would have been negative for 99% of hunters. I’ll happily eat crow if someone shows an example otherwise that I missed.

It’s a shitty spot to be in, I agree with republicans on the vast majority of issues, but I think anyone that says republicans are better for access, conservation, and protection of wild places are delusional, or too stubborn to be willing to admit it.

I will say that a year or two ago I had a very similar opinion of BHA as yourself. I didn’t believe the “green decoys” trope at all. Land access and 2A issues are separate, and conservation can make some strange bed fellows after all.

Even knowing of Tawney’s past endorsement of Obama, though it make me uneasy, I was willing to look past it for the greater good.

But between their former board chairman Ryan Busse now working directly for the DNC and gun control organizations, seeing the opinions of some more prominent BHA members come to light, and some questionable associations that BHA has with organizations that have been actively working for anti hunters (the Kifaru cast episode covers this.) It was enough for me to change my mind for good. It was enough it couldn’t just be a coincidence.

I had something in my gut telling me things didn’t quite pass the sniff test from the get go, and I should’ve listened prior to giving them a cent.

Again not discounting some of the excellent work they do on a local level, but if you feel strongly about 2A issues I’d suggest doing a deeper dive.

I went to a couple rendezvous’ and had a great time, but as they grew they seemed to be less fun for me. It was easy to see that more money got you a different, better experience. I will say that is the same with basically any group or org I’ve been around. As it is now I don’t give money to any non profit as it’s pretty easy for me to find problems with all of them. I think some of the bha hate gets a bit overblown and people get rosy thoughts about older groups with very focused names that are just as crummy if not more so IMO

"Public Land and Access"
That's a great name for the org, mate - just name it that. Maybe I should start a change.org petition for them to do that. This is what I and a lot of people think - stop hiding a public lands org that gives money to use organizations (like bikers and hikers) behind hunters and anglers when the same org seems to be actively indifferent to hunters holistically. If tomorrow, a state said they wanted restrictions on carbon fly rods, you know damn well BHA would be out there yapping away, on the SPECIFIC issue. They DO NOT do this with on the hunting side.

And when they start to support internal policies that are in fact antithetical to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 you know where the org is heading.

Oh, and read The True Believer by Eric Hoffer.
