BH fit question

I have some Axis 5mm arrows I worked up for this season. I was planning on using Magnus stinger buzzcut 125gr BH. I read that they should fit without problem. I just tried to get one on and it was very hard to screw on. I didn't even screw it all the way down to where the ferrule was flush with shaft because it didn't feel right. Should it be that difficult? Or was the guy who told me it would fit full of it?

Shouldn’t be that hard. Sometimes glue gets down into the shaft and sometimes the shafts can be tight but I’ve never had one not screw in. Try them with different arrows. If they don’t fit in any arrow that would be strange.

I run the same setup for my fixed heads with the exact same arrow. Occasionally, I'll have one that needs a little extra effort to seat but that's just the glue getting in the way. It's a great set up. Has flown very well for me.

If you suspect that the insert has damaged threads, buy an 8-32 tap from the hardware store for $5-10 and chase the threads. If the bad threads are on the broadhead, get an 8-32 die and run it over the broadhead ferrule. This is of course assuming that both components indeed have standard (8-32) threads, not Deep Six.

If the broadhead stops short of being flush with the end of the shaft your insert may have walked out a little bit before the epoxy set. This will happen on the H.I.T.s occasionally if the insert tool is pulled out too fast. It creates a vacuum on the shaft. Taking the nock off helps when gluing those inserts.
