So I just discovered my beloved Lowa Tempest gtx mid hikers shit the bed. I found a hole worn in the left sole last week (a lug ripped off) while attempting to glue author seam that busted. They are about 5yrs old and probably have hundreds of miles, so I should've paid more attention to their wear.

My backup boots are Asolo Bajura's. I usually wear them in late season.

I hiked in my archery elk camp this past Wednesday and while wearing them I developed blisters for the 1st time on my heels. I have about 50 miles in them.

I leave on Sunday for 8 days in a wilderness area. What to do?

On one hand I feel like if I buy another pair of lowa's they aren't going to be broke in. On the other hand my old lowa's fit me perfectly and never gave me issues. Or should I just take moleskin, athletic tape, sock liners, better socks and stick it out with the asolo's.

Either way, this is a new position I'm finding myself, without boots I trust. Anyone been here?

Since you had such good luck with your Lowas, I'd buy another pair and live in them for the next few days and if things are back to normal, I'd take them.

(along with leukotape/moleskin, tape, liners, etc.)

I also have some awesome liquid skin stuff I picked up from the neonatal ICU when my kids were born. They used it to keep diaper rash from occurring, but i think it would work well for blisters.

I'll check those socks out too, thanks.

Unfortunately I dont have a few days. I have less than 72hrs (roll out 9am on sunday)
