What is the best turkey red dot in your guys opinion?

I really enjoyed using my Holosun 507c attached to the Scalarworks Sync mount on my 870 this past season. The EOtech style reticle is perfect for lining up with a gobbler’s head/neck. Auto-brightness, 5 year battery life, and Trijicon RMR footprint are cherries on top

Awesome setup. Do you find a smaller red dot is better than a larger one like the 510c?

After having dead batteries in a red dot and then on one occasion not being able to see the dot on target in bright sunny conditions, I switched to a rear ghost ring and a hi viz fiber optic bead on the front. Nothing to fail and super to easy to acquire a target.

I use a Trijicon RMR with green triangle--self illuminated model. The MRO would be good too, if you don't mind the slightly larger package.

I mounted two Vortex Venoms on 20 gauges last season. One malfunctioned in about a week of hunting, which I heard was common and why I set up 2 guns. Vortex replaced it, but I don't fully trust them now. Red dots are the ticket for turkeys tho.

No malfunctions with a self illuminated sight.

I’ve used Burris ffiii and Vortex Venoms both 3 moa. I prefer the Vortex over the Burris. I prefer the Burris mount over the Sumtoy mount.
I’ve been using red dots for about 3 seasons and haven’t had any problems with them. I won’t have a turkey gun without one now.

The Burris mount...the one that goes between the receiver and stock? I think those look awesome but I can't find one for my guns.

How much should I pay?

I really think only you can answer that. I suggest narrowing down what features/style you want, customer service, then check $$ in those categories. If you're a 3 day a year turkey guy, $50 barska, if you hunt 8 states in 60 days....

I went mid range on my red dot. After missing a bird with my bead sight shotty, I put an Early version of a vortex red dot (sparc?) on an 870 that I built for turkey. As @Dwight2180 points out, I hunt a few turkey days a year. Between checking zero and a little practice, the gun shoots less that 10-20 shell a year. It wasn’t with putting a $500 optic on it to me.

Some guys won’t spend 500 on a sight that hopefully last a long time. Not knocking anyone but my point is many use TSS, 10 dollars or more a shell. It last long and you’ll forget what you paid on a sight. A bunch of tss gets shot, it ain’t that long before you shell out again. I chose the one time higher expense and shoot lead loads.
Figure with tss if that’s what someone shoots., if they only shot it a couple times with 2-3 dif chokes, loads. Than walked back, checked it before season, buy a 2-3 extra boxes for the season, prob got almost 300 bucks tied up already.

No, sir. This mount goes on top of the receiver. I have mine drill and tapped for it.

The Venoms are normally listed for around $240, but I’ve always bought mine for $200 or less. The Burris ffiii is usually cheaper in price.
