Best Tikka prefit steel barrel

I've read of a handful of preferred issues but they certainly seem to have better odds of success than mcgowan. I'd feel even better about them if I was sourcing through LS Wild.

From a LRH thread - looks like basically zero freebore:
that's a burr on the trailing edge of the lands, usually from a dull reamer. it should be crisp on both edges of the lands.

OK. You order a 243Win barrel for a T3X how does the supplier know how to set the headspace? Or do you have to do something to set it?
From the way I understand it, Tikka T3X actions are typically consistent enough in dimensions to cut a shouldered prefit and be within headspace tolerances. You can also alter the headspace a bit with the amount of barrel torque into the action. I prefer tight torque and guaranteed headspace from a gunsmith.

Some suppliers feel that the Tikka actions are consistent enough from the factory that a barrel can be cut to the appropriate headspace without needing to see the individual action. That’s the point of a “shouldered prefit.”

the headspace is set to the action. Tikka actions have maintained a tight enough tolerance with the action to allow a barrel makers or gunsmiths to cut a barrel to a standard spec for the action and it to be properly headspaced.
It is a good idea to check the headspace with proper gauges after installing the barrel
