Best sock for hot weather

This September I'll be accompanying my friend on his AZ archery hunt, and I'm assuming it is going to be warm, if not downright hot. What is everyone's prefered socks for mountain hunting in hot weather? Even when archery deer season starts at the end of September/early October in the eastern states, I usually don't have to worry about super high temps, so all of my socks are cold weather socks, and if I need warm weather socks I just wear regular ones since I'm only doing day hunts and not hiking. I figure there has to be some better technical socks out there for warm weather. What do ya got?

What’s your definition of hot? Going from phoenix up in the mountains i think it’s nice and cool in august haha.
I’ll usually run a pair of gore socks with a backup pair of darn tough midweight. I think more importantly i use a non goretex boot and my feet breath much better.

My feet are weird. They get real sweaty real easy, but also get cold and stay cold. I hunted elk in September in Colorado last season. I took 3 pairs of socks. Farm to Feet lightweight, Lorpen light hikers, and Darn Tough midweight. Out of the 3, the Darn Tough were my favorite. Even though they were the heaviest weight of the 3, I feel like my feet didn’t sweat quite as bad in them. Maybe it’s because they are better at moisture wicking than the others. Also, in the mornings and evenings, they did a better job of keeping my feet warm.

I always wear wool socks in September in the mountains but I also carry some white athletic tape and anytime any part of my feet start feeling hot I tape them up.

I just bought 5 pair of the Darn Tough Hiker socks and my feet normally sweat very bad as I have to wear steel toe and metarsal leather boots at work all day.
I wore a pair of the Darn Tough yesterday for a full day and my feet never did sweat and no smell either. and are the most comfortable socks I have ever had. defiantly going to be ordering more of them that's for sure

If your feet run hot like mine, Darn Tough Lightweight.

Not ultra-light, not ultra-light cushion, and not light cushion. Lightweight. If your feet run cold you might consider light cushion for a little more protection on a hunt.

I haven't seen anyone mention sock liners yet. I live and hunt in Texas. My feet sweat year round. I use Darn Tough lightweights with either Fox River or Injinji sock liners. I've found the sock liners help wick moisture away from my foot and into the wool socks. The liners also help a bunch to prevent the friction that causes blisters.

My feet tend to get cold because they sweat. Switching to 80%+ wool socks really helped. I wear them as everyday socks now. Best ones out there are Darn Tough without a doubt.

I was able to pick up a few pairs from TJ Maxx a while back pretty cheap (2nds so no warranty). They tend to be the thinner style, but work great when its 40*+ outside. The thicker ones are great for extra cushion and colder weather.

I've been searching for my go-to warm weather sock for the past couple weeks. After a lot of research, I gave the Farm to Feet Ely Lightweight a try. I immediately didn't like them because of the padding placement and it just felt like sock bunched up under the ball of my foot. So after that, I ordered the Madison Lightweight which has a full padded bottom, which was much more comfortable.

Then I did a little more research as decided to try a lightweight offering from Darn Tough, since I have a pair of their midweights and like them. I went with the Press because of the "cool" features - the venting on the top, the thinner fabric, etc. On a scale, they are also 15% lighter than the Madisons. Gave them a try for a bit last night and they were just ok for me. They wanted to slide down my leg and inch or two, and then stayed put there, but I would have rather they stayed up all the way. I put my boots on and walked around for a minute and thought they were just alright. I then switched back to the Madisons and the comfort was immediately noticeable. So that's what im going to stick with, and the other two pairs will get sent back!

Sorry for the long over-analyzation for a couple pairs of socks, but I tend to overthink everything!

No, that's a pretty good analysis. It's better to gear up properly or suffer during a hike instead. I double the Darn Tough, especially the DT Vermont which I and my wife wear. Not only we find these as the best sock for cold weather. Also what about socks made of merino wool? Like Meriwool ones? Worked for me as during hot days and cold nights. What about these https://www.amazon.com/MERIWOOL-Pairs-Merino-Blend-Socks/dp/B07HS25MQY/?

I wear wool socks all year. Granted, I live in a cooler climate than you but it still reaches into the 80's and 90's in my area in the summer. If I'm wearing shoes on those days I have thin low cut wool socks. Now on to your actual question...They never make my feet feel gross and wet when wearing them in my army boots. When in the woods during summer I still wear mid-weight wool socks and my feet have never felt too warm and usually wear calf high wool socks with them.

Advantages: They dry fast over a fire and are less apt to burn than a synthetic sock.
They are naturally antimicrobial...no, or very little stink during extended wear.

These are my experiences, yours may vary.

I suggest you try one pair out on a hot day and see how they feel for you.

Kenetrek liner socks on their own for warm weather.

Those in the know don't use toilet paper, get with the times man!Screenshot_20191005-232604_Amazon Shopping.jpg20191021_211253.jpg

Always go with Darn Tough. The lightweight for warm weather, and their boot sock for cold. They're the best, and they are guaranteed for life!
