Best scope under $2500

Well, you could be right, myself I can visualize 3" over the back and adjust accordingly. But that is just what I do. There are always multiple ways to skin a cat, I am comfortable doing it the way I do it and it has not failed me in 57 years of hunting (Yet).
You should never be too experienced to learn new things. There’s a far better way.

It’s my humble opinion that a 4-32 nx8 is not ideal for his situation. With a 300 yard max I’d be looking at something with a better reticle for low zoom applications.

Swfa 3-9 would be perfect I think, and save roughly $1800.
I completely agree. I only offered the NX8 because it met closest in my option to what he said he wanted. That's why I offered the other lower priced, good options with lower magnification as well.

I didn’t say anything about vertical at the distances OP is asking , that’s a zero/mpbr discussion not a wind hold, you want to Kentucky a 17” wind hold, and hope you didn’t hold 24” and miscalled the wind by 5mph that’s all you..

As far as SFP vs FFP
Trying to convert 1moa hash mark set at 20x can be easy assuming you multiply and don’t divide at 10x but what about 11 or 12…not much room for math or mag setting error, but if you don’t care about wind or error potential, millions of animals have been killed with a plex SFP, as I said to each their own.

RS1.2 is what I have been putting on all my rigs. More than sufficient for your use case. If you really dont plan to go past 4-500 I might just get the swfa 1-9 though honestly.

Nightforce NX8. The reason why is the click adjustments are always accurate and they’re super durable scopes.

You can rely on the scope and don’t have to rely on a warranty.

Trijicon accupount 3-9 with the mil dot reticle if weight is a concern. Sight in for MPBR for your 300 yard shots, use the mil windage at 9x if it's windy enough to need to do so.

Of if you want FFP, the swfa 3-9 or the RS1.2. For 300yd max, I'd still go MPBR over dialing even with these and use the windage at whatever zoom you want, but I bet you end up on 6-8x in the field most of the time over some really high zoom. Even 15x at 300 yards is too much.

Thanks for the info. There's a ton I need to experiment with so I can have first hand knowledge of all the info shared on here. I was used to shooting my leupold 4X20 at 20X at 100 yards lol. I know it sounds stupid but I didn't know better.

I do believe I'm gonna go trijicon. A buddy of mine helped me get them at 40% off. I don't think I can pass on them at that price. I wanted a NF NXS but they're not available right now at a discount. They said it could be a few weeks or it can be much longer they have no idea been they'll add them to the list so purchase with the discount.

Thanks again for the info. I've yet to do a ton more reading and practicing so I can get good at this. Long range shooting always intrigued me and it's always been something I really want to get good at. But I discovered archery and it took up my time at the range. So yeah I'm going into this with zero knowledge but a very open mind.

Check out euro optic's prices. They might be in the ballpark of that discount if it's from full msrp.

Another one id look at Is the accupoint 2.5-12.5 mil dot if you don’t intend to dial. Little more zoom than a 3-9, illuminated center dot (no batteries). It’s a sfp mil dot reticle so if you’re going to do elevation and windage holds make sure your zoom is at the setting the reticle is calibrated for (same process with any other sfp holdovers)
