Best scope under $1000

Here’s another vote for the 3-15 swfa. The ffp version is available on their website, if you’d rather have a second focal plane just keep an eye on the classifieds here. They pop up fairly often.

Wow some great suggestions that I had not looked into. Right now I am kind of narrowing it down to the following:

Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x44mm for $899

Leica Amplus 6 2.5-15x56i for $970

Burris Xtreme Tactical XTR III 3.3-18x50mm for $900

Trijicon Tenmile 6-24x50 for $850

Athlon ARES ETR UHD 4.5-30×56 for $672

ZEISS Conquest V4 6-24x50 for $750

For hunting, I wouldn't own anything that doesn't dial down to 3X and have a strong preference for SFP.
Both of these are for fast target acquisition and a clear reticle at lower mag.

Honestly, for where I hunt, I never have my scope on min power anyways so that isn't really a deal breaker for me. I do appreciate the higher magnifications to use as a spotting scope. I am leaning pretty heavily towards the Athlon because of the price and the stellar reviews it gets for the cost of the scope.

It’s right at the top of your budget but this is what you want https://www.gaprecision.net/shop/ga...ell-lrhs-2-4-5-18-x-44-g2h-reticle-lrhs2.html

Casting a vote for a Trijicon Credo. Some are slightly out of your price point at retail but can be had if you know where to look. Same with some of the Nightforce stuff. Great glass from both.

I’ve been super happy with my Zeiss V4 4-16s and V6 3-18 which can both be had under or around $1k especially used or demo. Glass clarity, dialing and durability have all been good.
I second the Zeiss V4 in that price range. I've been really happy with mine - scope holds zero (even after being flown all over the place on the rifle, knocked around in sXs, etc.). Zero stop is easy to set and logical. Brass threads in the turrets, crisp clicks, etc. For a hunting scope in that price range, I think it's a solid product and the weight isn't bad compared to similar scopes.
