Best rear bag for backpack hunts

For sure. I always have my bags available these days especially if it’s helping newbies and kids. So much easier getting the rifle setup and success rates have gone way up with far fewer missed shots. A little pre season instruction and bags in the field have almost eliminated those missed shots.

I haven’t looked at your site for awhile so things might have changed. What would be nice is if you came up with some sort of list/matrix to look at your different offerings with what size, what fill and what the weights are for each bag. Bouncing between tabs with not fully fleshed out descriptions on each was kind of a little road block for me.

I've used this same bag in multiple backcountry hunts and feel it is worth the extra "stuff" versus using puffy jackets etc.

What do you guys suggest for using with a chassis mostly but an occasional normal stock or two? I’m guessing ultralight isn’t always better? Surprised no one is suggesting the bag Unknown sells. Any reason why not?

The UM jelly fish is a good light rear bag. I’ve got one. Not sure I’ll carry it while hunting as it’s just one more thing to keep track of and have access to quickly.

I’m happy to use my bino harness as my rear rest while in field.

AG shmedium gamechanger filled about 70% with spexlite 5125, weighs 1.5#. Use as front bag on stump or limbs, atop Tripod Apex, rear bag. I'm just used to using one for everything in prs matches so it easy for me.

You are right. Recoil often sends shots high and a squirmy bag does not help as much as a solid bag.

Git-lite is the best fill for solid rest and lightest weight. I like the LRO mini wedge and the LS Wild waxed mini bag, both of which we make.

What’s the weight difference between the git-lite and the mini wedge. I have the reg Lro rear bag that I use for the range, that I love. Just trying to figure out which one I want to carry in my pack

I didn't want to buy another piece of gear to carry extra weight on my hunts so I started using my game bags (caribou gear) that come in the bag that they are packed in and it works for most situations as a rear bag. It works pretty well and i can get pretty steady with it.

This is the way! Why are more backpack rifle hunters not embracing this? It's a great way to dual purpose an item I always have anyway. I keep mine in an outer pocket so i can access it fast. Great way to shave a few ounces and bulk.

I have a MDT canister bag with the light fill clipped on the back of my pack.
