Looking for a lightweight pair of puffy pants I can put on over my pants as an outer layer in cold conditions. I want to stay warm for long glassing sessions in cold weather and be able to take them off quickly and easily.

Price is always a factor I guess. If a quality piece is cheap then I’d want it. But if some piece is worth the added expense then so be it. So I guess I’m not super concerned about price.

Goosefeet Gear makes their puffy pants customized to the individual order so you can select the zipper profile, down fill, outer fabric density as well as customized measurements. Obviously some advantages to a custom fit, but it won’t be cheap: $250-$350 depending on the details.

Check our review going as we speak….for the price point offered a very good choice

KUIU Superdown Pro are my favorites. They seem more durable and warmer than the Sitka and SG models at the same weight, and lighter and more packable than the First Lites. I just got back from a 10-day hunt in Alaska where I wore them every day -- they are awesome.

So many options!

The under armour alpine ops pants are 800 fill and there's a lot of it. $150 at sportsman's right now. I've liked mine so far.

Slightly warmer and synthetic? Kuiu Kenai are pretty nice.

if you're not in hurry, check in on Nunatak USA- they offer custom Apex insulated pants- several weights of Apex, no side zips to full side zips and everything in between, choice of fabrics, customize waist and length, etc

Their Apex stuff seems to be on and off again, guessing but I think Apex insulation might be tough to get these days and when they run out they pull the products, when they get more they list them again

I’m case you’re a bigger guy, these are a killer deal. Search the forum for another thread full of sliders who bought them. Full side zip, on and off without taking clothes off.

Kuiu ultra down or Stone glacier down pants have a very good weight to warmth ratio and are very packable compared to other warmer down pant options out there.

Just got mine in the mail after seeing this post the other day so thanks for the tip. I think it worked out to $97.00 delivered. They look like they are well made and will work perfect for me especially for the price!

Skre ptarmigan are a great value compared to Sitka, kuiu, and first lite ones. They have sales fairly regular and 1st time signing up for email gets you a nice discount

Custom GooseFeet Gear. You’ll get exactly what you want, nothing you don’t want, and they won’t cost you any more than the leading manufacturers, plus they’re made in the USA.

I have two kinds. Uncompaghre puffy pants and the UA alpine ops down pants. I love the UA. They are warm and quiet for bow hunting. Packs into there own pouch. Very handy dandy

I use Feathered Friends and it suits my needs effortlessly plus I heard Kuiu Kenai are pretty nice.

WM flight pants, uncomphagre, kuiu kenai zip off...uncomphagre over the flight pants is a good combo....warm and windproof. Flight jacket and uncomphagre jacket for the same up top.
