I've worn the Attack pants majority of the time, no issues with them. I wore the Alpine pants last season, worked out well too. The Chinook pants are also a good choice, micro grid fleece lined but super breathable I could go early or late season with them. I tried the Sitka Timberline pants one year, would be a good late season pant except Sitka needs to put some hip vents on those bad boys, they get hot hot and they are on the heavier side of pants for a "lightweight" hunt and I don't care much for the built in belt and thick belt loops on them they dig into your hips with a pack belt. The Kuiu Guide pants have worked well for me in late season alpine hunting, love the hip vents on them.

Marmot makes a pant called the Scree, that would be a good early season pant or late season with a baselayer.

Ditto the Attacks. I like a full size cargo pocket so did not like that feature on Chinooks and Alpines. For serious climbing I find the knee pads annoying. Nice in camp or stalking though.

Cold weather i would say Sitka Timberline. The Kuiu Alpine pants are very nice and would do the same thing with baselayers.

Early season Alaska can be warm or cold,, if warm enough for shorts the bugs are always too bad for me to go with shorts. I like pants that breath, dry fast, block some wind, and have enough stretch so that when I climb they don't cause me fatigue. I have used Sporthill, Arc'teryx, 511 Traverse, Sitka Mountain and Ascent, but my favorite is Kuiu Attack pants. The Attack pants meet all my wants and have thigh zips to vent when I get hot from climbing. Luke and many have have hunted with just wear those nylon pants with zip off legs, I don't care for them because I'm a Hobbit and the zippers are too low for me and rub my legs.

Whatever you get I would add some Gaiters as I consider Gaiter required gear for my sheep hunts. Trekking poles too.

Good Luck!!!

I've used a lot of various pants and my favorite early season pants are the Kuiu Alpine pants. If they fit you good and the knee-pads line up for you, they're absolutely superb. I've used the Attack pants too and they're a slightly thicker material than the Alpine pants and I tend to get a little too warm if it's hot out. Either one though are excellent sheep pants for early season.

My favorite Alaska hunting pants are cabelas microtex in grey/green outfitter camo. Light, blocks wind, breathable, drys fast, blends into most any mountain terrain but bright green grass, does not tear easily, does not pill, and very affordable as they are on sale often. They are loose fitting cargo style and don't stretch much, which can be a hill climbing issue when they drift too low.

If I was of a more athletic build I would probably go for something more upscale, but being short and wide and poor keeps me from looking further than what has been fantastic for the last four years.

And they are great for moose hunting (i.e. very quiet in the brush). However, there are hundreds of perfectly good sheep hunting pants out there IMO. Since sheep hunting is a lot like hiking, most hiking pants work great. If they cover your legs, stay up where they belong, and don't soak up too much water... I'm personally pretty happy.

I have been wearing First Lite Corrugates.

+1. Used them last year for the first time and came away impressed. I got tired of waiting for a year for Kuiu to get their guide pants in stock so went with the First Lite pants a week before sheep opener. I'll keep using them.

They should be....windproof/high resistant, fast drying, "stretchy", fully gusseted crotch, pockets you like to have, tough.

I have a pair of OR Cirque pants that have about 50 days of sheep hunting and lots of general hiking, skiing, fishing, berry picking, etc. I cannot believe how well these pants have held up. Not one problem.
