What packs have worked best for you to lean back against when sitting and/or shoot off the top of like a tripod in a sitting or kneeling position?

Im not sure if there is a better pack for that specific purpose than the Eberlestock mainframe. It is not near the best pack out there but it has a meat shelf that makes it stand on its own. I’ve put a mystery ranch daypack lid on mine that has a barrel tunnel in the middle. Personally I prefer to shoot off my tripod leg with a fhf TAC mountain rifle rest https://fhfgear.com/products/tac-mtn-rifle-rest?lang=en_US and then use my pack to stabilize my stock on.

Thanks. And can you sit back against it to glass?

Not as comfortable as a the top of a tripod with binos but if you look at the picture you can see it’s pretty decent out of a chair if you use the tripod leg which you can adjust the height on vs the backpack where it is a fixed height if your glassing with your scope.

I didn't see the picture thank you. I definitely need that fhf rest i was thinking about inventing the exact same thing.

I think the right pack will depend more on your physical size. For me my 25”EXO frame and pack is perfect to shoot off of kneeling or sitting. Long hours glassing using a pack to lean against is not the best. I would pack my crazy creek chair if that’s my plan. For some glassing sessions I have used something behind my pack to prop it up at a better angle but I prefer the chair so I can use my pack to shoot off of.
