Getting a Ruger 77/357 and wanted to see the best optic for it. I want something low power, 1 inch tube, durable, and cheap. Please help!

My mate had a Leupold VX-HOG 1-4X20 on his 77/357 for a while which was an awesome match for size and capability.
I bought this scope of him and now have it on my single shot .357.

Or I'd be choosing the best quality fixed power scope I could afford, like a 4x32

I have a 4x bushnell banner on mine w circle plex. Shoot homeloads w pointy bullets at 200-225 yards and ring 8-inch steel every time.

also have an older usa made Viper 2-7x36 that will sit on it for hunting, excellent scope.

Depending on what you want to do with it, 4x is great and the lower power variables are great.

I reload HPs, FPs, pointed soft piints, and plastic pointy tips to 2,000 fps. Shoot deer mainly inside 100 yds.

HPs start to wander more betewwn 125 and 150 yards. Inside 125 yards you’ll be shooting bottom of soda can size groups. The faster the bullet the tighter the group.

158 gr xtp fp over lil gun at 2,000 fps will flatten deer. We’ve got at least 15 deer w this load and all but 1 dropped in place. I think Buffalo Bore sells these or similar loads.

Cheap scopes arent always best but this has no recoil so might last a long time but might not have low light capabilities.

Yer gonna love the gun. Mine does have feeding issues with the magazines.
