I'm new to these mapping apps and I dont want to debate their specific pros and cons.. I just want to hear from those of you that have decided on one because it operates better on an Android platform rather than an IOS.

Thanks

Blessings~

I have be using Basemap for several years and really liked it but now they are having issues with Android versions 14 & 15 apparently. My route tracking is not working and now the app won't even stay open on my phone. I'm trying to work with them but progress has been slow.

Thanks for being a customer and agreed progress has been too slow. Turned into a real can of worms to fix it right for newer android versions. We believe we have tracking all squared away but hit me up in a PM if you have any questions. Should have a new release in developer beta tomorrow assuming google approves it.

another vote for CalTopo. You can make your maps on the computer, import shapes or KMZ, and then its immediately available on the app. Easy to share map packages with friends. I pay for the premium version for access to additional layers for work but its probably not neccesary.

onX for me. Been using it over 7 years on multi-state hunts. They typically do a decent job refining and tweaking their system.

Great news, thanks for the update and I'll keep an eye out for the update.

I've been using Gaia and avenza for forest maps. Gaia does ok but noticed a decline since the Outside purchase. Sounds like Caltopo may be the pick of the litter?

Gaia for me. It seems to be getting better again. The map choices are the best. You can use Google earth on it and the 3D offline maps are awesome.

Gaia became dead to me when they created me an "Outside online" account and set it to publicly share all my data. So watch out for that, and screw Gaia.

I agree that wasn't a good move, but you have the option to keep your profile private.
