thanks in advance for all replies.

I am presently working up some new loads for my x-bolt long range stalker in 300 WM. I have recently shot tons of hornady stuff and had great results as far as accuracy. Last year montana mule deer hunt I took a nice muley at 400 yards with 178 gr eld-x. Again im very pleased with the accuracy results, but this is the second time a retrieved ELD-x has seperated core from jacket. Any info or suggestions greatly appreciated

The only bonded bullets I have shot are the Nosler Partition, Speer Grand Slam and Nosler Accubond and I have hunted with all three. All three will shoot under and inch in my mags. Of those the Nosler Accubond would probably have the best BC but I have shot more game with the other two. The most accurate bullet in my mags is not a bonded bullet but the Barnes TSX.

Barnes LR TSX shoot half inch groups in my WM and regular TSX in my WSM do the same. If you haven't tried the Barnes LR TSX, you might consider them. My groups reduced significantly when I switched to Barnes and there is no risk of separation.

I've had pretty good success with 200 grain Nosler Accubonds, They shoot well and I've been happy with their performance. Black bear quartering to, 400 yards went through front shoulder lodged in in back leg. Bullet mushroomed but stayed intact. Elk 550 quarter away about the same, bullet kept it's weight no separation. I've shot some deer but those are the two I've recovered. Never had an issue with them.

Try some A frames, took my cow bison with one and it held up great. Penetrated through the shoulder joint destroying the entire joint where the leg bone and shoulder blade come together, passed through the ribs and lodged just under the skin on off side, a perfect mushroom.
I also load Grand Slams and have used Core lokt bullets.

I just started loaded Trophy Boned Tip bullets last fall, they have been good so far but not many harvests yet with that bullet. It does make lots of damage to tissue.

I think the 200 gr accubond is the best I have found in the 300 WM. I have had luck with the RL22 and H4831 right out of the Nosler manual. The Barnes 180 TTSX isn't bonded but you won't have to worry about coming apart.

To my knowledge the only bonded bullet built for long range hunting are the AccubondLR, not a ton of info out there on them though. Depending on what long range means to you I'd start with standard Accubonds and Scirocco II's and go from there.

look into the federal edge tlr they don't have much selection but have the best bc i've found for a bonded bullet.

I’ll add that the eld-x did do its job all in all the mule deer died. But this year with elk I’m kinda leaning to a tougher bullet that’s bonded. Thanks for all the replies.

Another vote for Accubonds.
In my 7 rem mag, there really isn't much difference in the ballistics of the 160 gr Accubonds vs a VLD type bullet of comparable wt within 500-600 yards. And I really don't plan to shoot beyond 600 yards at game.
If you plan to shoot beyond 600 yards, then the VLD type bullets ballistic advantages begin to show.

Federals new Edge TLR seems to be designed for what you are looking for. High bc, bonded, expands down to 1800. Not cheap, but bondeds usually aren't.

The .308 200 grain is hard to find though.
