If your shooting a compound it is very unlikely you will see any benefit to having longer arrows. Just cut as short as is safe and shoot. If you really like playing with your set up go for it but there are many other places you can tinker and get better results.
This is what I’m tossing around also. Fixed broadhead inside the riser just past the rest or out past the riser.

Always out past the riser. In the heat of the moment it is possible to have a finger sticking up that could catch the broadhead. Dumb way to loose a finger. It is not a common injury but it does happen. I think I have seen a few pictures here. You can find stories and pics of nasty finger injuries that could have been avoided by adding half an inch to the arrow. It is unlikely you will see any difference in performance by cutting it a little short.
