Anyone have an opinion on the best bear proof cooler value? Would appreciate input

Grizzly coolers get my vote. I have 3 and have bought 3 more as gifts for friends and family. Their design is bomb proof, and very well thought out. 100% USA made and carry a lifetime warranty. I’m also a very big fan of their latch system. Everyone else uses T shaped latches, while Grizzly uses a story of square O shape latch. In 10-15 years that rubber is gonna break down and if they aren’t around as a business anymore and replacements aren’t an option, I can still tie it shut with 550 cord. That doesn’t work with a T style latch system.

Now I hope it lasts a lot longer than 15 years and also that the company stays in business for many years to come but it always pays to buy planning for the worst. A Roto cooler is a hefty investment and one I don’t plan in having to make a second time.

Couple really good cooler reviews on here. Last year I ended up with a Canyon 75 and I’ve been happy with it so far. Holds up In the reviews with the best ice retaining options out there and I like the latch system and price.

I’ve been happy with my Wallsmart ozark trail. I have a yeti and canyon and I’m just as happy with the OT. I’m not really a cooler snob though.

The OT is 1/2 the price, is bear proof, and holds the ice just as long. What else do you need?

I own 4 YETI coolers and no bears have ever gotten in them.

And how many times have you chained them to a tree in a high bear activity trailhead/camp where the furry punks are known to break into *vehicles*?

So...more about my plan here: need a cooler for meat care in case I’m successful on a backpack hunt along the margin of a very busy park with a bear problem. Not allowed to leave it in my truck at the trailhead. Trailhead is a long way from nearest ice, weather in bowhunting season is warm to hot. Planning to get a bearproof cooler (which is allowed to be left out in the trailhead camp area as long as it’s locked), put dry ice in it and chain it to a tree a short distance from the parking area.
So—I’ll be kinda crossing my fingers a bit, hoping it’s there when I need it. I really don’t want to put a Yeti or some other high cost cooler out there where a pair of bolt cutters earns someone a $400+ cooler. Or put another way, I want to lower my potential loss if someone does find it and decides to take it.

Oh thank you! This looks like a good option for my needs! Rather dedicate my money towards the actual hunt and not the gear these days.

Lifetime cooler same company that makes the plastic tables and chairs certified grizzly proof what they claim. i haven’t had to test them with bears but hold ice a long time in the (AZ) desert and are $100 for a 55qt and like 150-160 for a 70qt

Realized I never updated this...the Canyon was excellent on the trip I took it on. It’s a great antidote for those oppressively hot bear boxes in camp sites. I never used it for what I intended: a cooler for game that would hold dry ice at a trailhead. First the person who was going to sell me a shell flaked out (I have an old truck, not putting a new one on it) and then the USFS freaked out about my plan to just lock in in the bed of my truck. So...plan B was “get deer back to truck, run into town ( before sunrise?) and buy ice and coolers.
But, yeah, high praise for the Canyon!
