Best gps app

What is the best app to use on a phone for GPS usage in the mountains and scouting?

I really have been liking OnX hunt, but look into avenza maps. It's not really a gps, but it georefrences your location on a traditional digital map.

GaiaGPS. Inexpensive. Works in all states. High resolution imagery, wildfires, ownership parcels, etc.

I have Avenza, only had the opportunity to use it where there is a cell signal. Does it work when there is no cellular signal?

Gaia on the desktop is easy to use, easy to sync with mobile for waypoints or tracks. Inexpensive as well.
