Nubi, I know. I like Vortex, new 300 wms needing hunting glass. Lots of options, want to stay light weight but like illumination during low light and cloudy. Saw first build 2.5x10x44 viper pst on sale for 349.00, and strike eagle 4x24x50 for 299.00 , hs,venom etc. No illumination and the list continues. Best bang for the buck so to speak. So many options !
I do like the vx3 or anything Leupold, havnt concidered buying used. Thank you for your reply. Ive only dreamed of hunting Oregon ! I love Texas hunting, but nothing like the north west. Im putting this rig together to hope fully experience a big game hunt in the near future.
No offense intended here. None. Please consider...
Your hunt - whatever that turns out to be - will cost you money. If it's a guided hunt - a lot more money. Not to mention all the time and work you are putting into this.
Fast forward to your hunt. It's trigger time. Do you want your scope to work???
And precisely why folks wisely say...put just as much if not more money into your scope than your rifle.
The $2,000 scope comment above? Sorry. Incorrect. There are very good scopes out here for far less $ and will be dependable when you ask them to.
The best glass you can buy doesn’t do anything for you if you don’t train with it. Sometimes a simple scope that you understand and use frequently will be what is needed.
With that being said, buy once, cry once is a real thing when it comes to scopes. Everyone has a reason for their choices, and if you ask you’ll get the reasons. At the end of the day, what you want in a scope at what price is your choice, not a bunch of nerds on the internet.
Picking out a scope is an adventure for sure, get what you want because you want it for what you’re going to do.
Thank you D Lee, I hope to succeed if I have to throw rocks. To experience what Ive never seen is most important. Not in the position to spend to have the very best. I do want to be prepared with adequate equpment to succeed and do so with ethical means. The new rifle is a more than suitable tool for the big game, just need to top it with the best I can for now and my sons in their future opportunities.
Justinspicher, thank you, you know how it is. You just dont want to, could of,would of,should of.
There are so many great options these days. Dont want to just settle. I really like the luxury of everyones opinion. Im not a young man anymore, everything is moving faster and technology is spankin me at my age. Lol
Thanks Mav, Im working on it.
I was thinking about all the lights and whistles.
Now focusing on the best basics first, and any cool extras will just be bonus.
