I'm just getting into shooting from a tripod and I just ordered one of the SRS hunter rails for my rifle stock...but the rail does not fit into my current Surui VA-5 tripod head.

What are the best options for a tripod head that will primarily be used for glassing but will work when I need to shoot off of it?

Anyone have experience with the two vets/419 ball head?

I bought the 2 Vets ballhead last year for shooting and bino glassing. It worked very well.
Does it mount up to any tripod or do you need adapters? And how is the arca attachment? Can you just set it on and clamp or do you have to slide it in?

Yes the Two vets heads will attach to most tripods with zero issue.
Yes the tension adjustment on the ball head is strong and basically can lock the ball if need be. Their ball heads also include a panning feature.
I’ve used the different Gen heads they’ve had and this latest version is by far the best.

Did you go with the 44 or the 55mm?

Have you tried adjusting the clamp on the head to find a happy middle ground with your other rails?

I had to tighten the clamp on my VA-5 to fit a Swarovski scope objective (it was previously fine with the Sirui rail....), at which point the SRS rail no longer fit--so I filed it down until it did. There was not happy middle ground where both would work for me, but maybe you'll get lucky!

The BH55 is a great ballhead. You might also consider the RRS TA-2U-SC universal leveling base with SOAR clamp. I swapped my tripods over to these leveling bases from ballheads.
