Currently have the Lapponia 2s. Love them for the hunting I do: offtrail with steep access, generally >2k vert/mile. They feel light on my feet, are great for me in temps between 25 and 75, and have great flexibility.

However.

On a recent bear packout, I ended up side-hilling quite a bit more than usual in an effort to remain upright while loaded down. Ended up feeling the boots wanting to “slide” side to side a bit more than I’d like, which led to very minimal blisters. I typically never get blisters, and figured a stiffer boot with a more rigid ankle support system would help to prevent this while side-hilling.

Anyone else make a switch for similar reasons? I’d like to stick with Crispi boots.

I picked up a pair of Nevadas a few years ago when I had a sheep tag to get a stiffer boot and have been really enjoying them. I'd just search Crispi for what boot style fits your needs the best and pay attention to the flex rating. A stiffer boot will really help keep your foot more level on steep side hilling.
