Best contour for tikka t3x action

I have a tikka roughtech 6 5 prc that im going to redo into a 6.5 saum. Gun is in a stockys stock and id prefer not to have to open the channel. Im either going bartlien brux or Krieger steel barrel finished at 26. Anybody know what contours would best fit for me?

Unless you get a Tikka profile, you are going to have to open up the stock as almost all of the standard contour barrels from the major makers have a shank taper length longer than the factory Tikka contours.

Got it. Those stocks are usually for a Tikka D18 profile barrel. 18mm barrel.

Here are measurements of the Tikka D18 barrel profile for reference, which is fully free floated in the alpine and roughtec stocks, but I’ve always relieved them a bit on my guns…

Thanks ill check into it more. If I ordered a #3 or #4 sporter with a 1.250 shank diameter will it work or do i need a 1.15 shank? I may just have the stock opened up to a sendero in case I want to go carbon later.

I shot my 6.5 creed ctr yesterday and my 140 bergers shot .5" and I was a bit dissapointed.

Ive got a tikka 300 mag i bought in 2018. Planned to rebarrel it just like you. It shot 1/2" groups with barely any work up so i rocked with it. I'm finally rebarreling it to a 25 prc. Hoping on the low recoil trend and it was getting annoying single feeding it 190 berger due to the shorter action length.

The tikka barrels are damned good. And 6.5 prc vs saum is pretty apples to apples.

Also...my new 25 prc barrel is pbb's tikka lite hybrid with all the flutes. Took em ~6 months Though. Was definitely expecting it sooner.

I’ve always done prefits for tikka 1.15. I know good smiths can turn down 1.25 standards no issue.

Truthfully. Most tikka and Sako barrels I’ve used have been as accurate and on average, lasted to higher round counts than most aftermarket barrels.
