Best Camo for Southwest/West Montana???

Hey everyone, first post on here so take it easy on me. I'm from Kansas but I'll be traveling to Montana this fall for deer/elk. Plan on hunting anywhere from Deer Lodge down to Dillon. What's everyone's favorite camo brand and pattern for that area? The obvious are Sitka, Kuiu, and First Lite. I'm also interested in Kings and anything else you guys suggest! I'll be coming for rifle season. So late October and into early November. Any help and insight are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

It really doesn’t matter at all. And that’s coming from a guy with $1,000’s worth of hunting clothes and camo. It just straight up does not matter even 1% in the grand scheme of getting an animal killed.

With that said, I prefer lighter colors. Tan, green, grey all on the lighter shade side.

I’d focus more on what fits you properly and layers properly for those later season hunts.

I appreciate the feedback. That's what I was thinking. The more important thing is layers because I know the weather can shift like crazy. I kinda like the Kings Camo XK7 pattern and you can find it on sale all the time, but I didn't know if the colors would be to light.

I have some camo for turkey and ducks. Some because I just like the pattern (GoHunt Approach hoodies). The rest is solid earth tones.

For that hunt I'd recommend puffy pants (assume you have a puffy jacket or two) and some wind stopping layers. Puffy glassing gloves can be helpful too.

I don't even wear much camo anymore - usually solids. Like mentioned already, look for layering pieces with a purpose.

No it’s not too light. I have some and it looks excellent in the field in most terrains.

Well seen as we headquater a bunch of the bestest hunting clothing companies. The cool MT kids wear only sitka subalpine. The cooler kids wear Forloh exposed. THE COOLEST kids wear Stone Glacier solids .

the camo pattern is irrelevant. the performance of the clothing is paramount.

The colors don't matter. I hunt in Colorado and have to wear orange over any camo clothing I have. Much more important is movement. If you are stationary and don't move, they won't see you. But even more important than remaining still is your scent. You could be invisible and if they smell you, they're gone. Hunt with the wind in your face, or pick a spot on the water hole that is downwind and that is much more important than any camo. You always hear about our grandfathers that hunted in red plaid coats and blue jeans and they killed game.

I’m partial to solids Coyote Brown ish and Greyish colors, usually have either one on the top and opposite on the bottom.

Like others have noted, it won't matter what you wear color/camo wise. If you are rifle hunting you will be wearing orange over which combo you choose.

The area you are going to is high desert, and as several guys have advised...dress for the weather. You may deal with early snow...and the wind there is relentless.

I too am one of "those guys" with thousands of dollars of hunting clothing. My opinion is that the best course of action is to buy whatever camo that comes from a good manufacturer and is on clearance.
