Best bullet TC ENCORE 50 cal

I also shoot TC shock waves. Unlike most I shoot the 200 grain and have been successful out to 240 yards although most shots are at two hundred or less. Great accuracy and terminal performance.

I have also had good luck with T/C shockwaves but to my knowledge they are no longer available? I have read elsewhere that they were just hornady SST with yellow tips

No disrespect, but if you're not getting a great blood trail, it's not the bullet but a shot placement issue.
Actually, thats not correct. Problem with ML is usually dont get a pass thru. I've killed many with perfect shot placement, with little to no blood trail.

With good shot placement, they dont go far, so its NBD.

I use the 250gr Barnes TMZ. Usually flattens deer, and usually does not pass thru or leave a blood trail.

Again, no disrespect. You can't even imagine the numbers of whitetail I've taken in 60yrs of hunting. The number of them taken with the 250gr TMZ is staggering, and to distances of 250yds+. Since BH came to be, I shot 75grsW of it with the 250's and have had pass throughs at 200yds. (Production rifles)

Unless I have no other choice, which is a rarity, I never take those higher lung shots. Yup, it'll kill the animal but, the chances of a great blood tail are much less, even with a pass through. Reason being, it takes much more blood to fill the cavity and to start giving that substantial blood trail. Many times, lung shots can give nothing but a mist if they're high, yet still kill the animal.

Broad side, right behind and just barely above the elbow and you'll turn its heart to jello. You'll pretty much have a trail that a one-eyed person could follow. There's no cavity to fill.

Yes, I've recovered a few Barnes bullets, but very few because of pass throughs.

Note that I don't use that bullet, shoot production rifles, or use sabots.
