Best Bullet GR Weight for Black Bear with 300 WM

never had an issue and even had partition going between ribs without touching bones and of course making lung soups: i still prefer copper bullet but that is just me and they work for me.
My point was more where are you shooting bears to get your “bullet residue” in meat? I use TMK’s etc and shoot just slightly in front of center center with zero issues.

If you are getting bullets in shoulders, I hope it was a really sharp qtr’ing away angle…..

wherever you are shooting an animal bullet residue might affect your meat. what you can see in the gel might not be visible in the meat. unless you are recovering the bullet with the same weight as when it left your rifle you are getting residue.

i have shot bears in the neck, shoulders, in front of shoulders and head ...

I’ve probably swallowed more lead via bird shot than I will ever from shooting a bear. Digestion absorption of lead is a whole other thread, but its exponentially more harm full to breath brake dust, then the minute amount of lead you “might” absorb during the limited time it is in your digestive system.

May be you if you mix it with gum… you know since then it will stay in you gut for a month… or what ever the old wise tail was.

I degress but most ideal shot placement on bear leads away from the limited amount of meat on shoulders anyway. With that said front half of a partition acts like a cup and core bullet and send shards also, you might want to just move completely to mono if that’s your ultimate worry
