My sons First Bull, New Mexico unit 51. my son had to leave elk camp for 3 days to fly to Utah to interview and test for a SWAT position. I filled my tag the evening he left. I spent his absence scouting for a bull for him. within 1 hr of returning to camp i called this bull into 20 yds for him. the Bull bolted when he drew, i stopped him and Jimmy absolutely pounded him at 45 yds.
I hauled my camera and tripod all over the thick, dead fall ridden mountainside for several days just so I'd have them to take photos with me and my elk should I get one. Of course, with the cold weather, my camera battery died about an hour before I killed this bull so I guess the cell phone pic will have to do. https://flic.kr/p/YghCrm
I took this bull in Colorado 2017 during the early rifle hunt in unit 61. It was a draw tag, Public Land DIY hunt. I used my Mesa Precision Arms Crux rifle chambered in 300 WIN
Took this bull, my first with a bow, in Colorado in September. DIY, OTC, public land. This pic is on our last day heading out, as I gratefully overlook the basin we hunted one last time as the sun was rising.
Kifaru AMR purchased off a fellow rokslider, on a brand new Kifaru frame.
When you are solo and pondering how to break this bull down, by yourself, in that position. Why do they always fall down the steepest hill, up against trees and on their back?!
I'm hoping this link will work for this photo. Not sure how to do all this lol but this was my first archery elk, diy 3rd year in Montana. I shot it on the 4th day of a backpack hunt. Picture was taken with a fifteen year old camera so it has a few blurry spots but I thought it was pretty cool with the tipi and Game bags in the background!
