Here are broadheads that impressed me enough that I am still using them.
Ironwills
Soilds
Oz cut ultra 4
Raptor Tricks

I plan on trying the new day six head as well, which is basicly a Soild knockoff with a soild blade.

I think just about any sharp broadhead placed in the right spot will work just fine. I started with 100 gr 3 blade Muzzys and they worked very well. Now I like Wac Ems and Slick Tricks. There seems to be allot of good broadheads on the market now. The problem is it's too expensive to try something else when what you're using does the job.

I miss the days of buying a six pack of Muzzys for $20.00 or less. Now any broadhead is 10.00-$15.00+ each making one arrow setup $25.00 or more.

I won't run anything other than Grim Reaper. I've had great luck with a number of their heads (1 3/8" Pro, 2" Whitetail Special, etc), but I am running the Micro Hybrid right now and have had amazing luck with it. Tested a few prototypes in Africa last year and killed 4 animals with the same exact head.

Made in America and great quality!!

So let me ask you guys, what is your broadhead of choice for Elk and Deer out here in the west, and why?
I think the best advice is to think of your Bow/Arrow/BH as a system. There are many different BH designs that work within the different "Systems"...but then aren't as effective if all three factors don't match.

So here's an example; A buddy did the Africa thing in May. He is a good shot and experienced hunter, doesn't get flustered. He shot and lost a Sable with his 70#, 400gr arrow, Rage BH. On video it looked to be a good shot, BS in the chest. So IMHO, his system was lacking in one component- the arrow. A big mech BH is more effective with a heavier arrow.

I've experimented with all of the BH designs and settled on the one I think is most effective in all situations.

My preference is a strong fixed tapered design cut on contact BH- for many technical reasons. They are far and away the best penetrating design...by a wide margin. The taper and COC part helps the edge retain its razor sharpness all the way through the animal.

The main reason is; They go through an animal so fast many times they don't feel it or react. They don't react as violently and charge off like their tail is on fire like when hit by a short head...or some mech heads. Usually means they die in sight...or short Blood trails.

I've had very good results with the QAD Exoudus on deer. I plan to try them out on elk given the opportunity. As much as I would like to shoot the Iron Will or Bone broadheads, I just don't have that kind of change laying around. I've shot my Exodus heads out to 70 yards and have them grouping right with my field points. I can't ask for more out of a broadhead.

Our Family of 3, Elk/Moose Hunters, use,.. G5 Strikers, QAD Exodus ( NOT Swept back, as Illegal in Id. )
Wac'em's, and Shuttle T's. ALL, are 100 grain, COC Heads and ALL have shot "with", our FP's, to 70 Yards ( furthest, we test to ). Short, Blood Trails, have been obtained, by all of them ( usually,.. 35 to 60 Yards ). Our arrows are, 3 fletched with, 3" Vanes Helical and 12.5% to 15% FOC using Medium Heavy arrows, to AVOID,.. Bow & Fletching, noise and a Rainbow Tradjectory.

I will be hunting for elk in ID this year and I am shooting a Hoyt RX1 Ultra at 65# with a 28.5" draw. Arrows will be Easton FMJ 340's.

I recently picked up:
Kudu point 125 gr
QAD exodus full blade 125 gr

Anybody have experience with one or both of these? I've read good things online about these broadheads but it's always better to hear someones first hand perspective.

I tried Mechanicals. The original G5 Tekens. Fist deer was a doe at 26 yards. Broadside. Shot though her. Burris’s in the dirt pretty far. Pulled it out and the blades never deployed, they were still retracted. Needless to say I never recovered the deer. Three weeks later a decent 8pt at roughkybtye same distance. Same type broadhead. Shot him. Retrieved my arrow. Again buried in the dirt pretty far. Guess what? Two blades still i deployed and in the retracted position. Never recovered that deer either.

I swore off mechanicals forever. That was a while ago and since then have not lost an animal using good old fixed blade broadheads. My current choice is Myzzy MX3 125s. The last six deer I killed died in sight.

I found the 125 Exodus full blade difficult to tune. Swept wasn't bad. I suspect the kudu will be easier.

Super sharpe and single bevel sleek design. I didnt see a big issue with penetration at all from them. Everything I have shot with them it has blown through including a feeder leg after it went through a doe.

Just got back from across the pond and ran them through these two animals with no issues.

The best Broadhead for me (flight, strong design, cost effective) is the wasp drone... doesn’t get as much hype as the QAD exodus or G5 striker but I think it deserves to be recognized with the top fixed heads on the market

As far as penetration goes, I think GrizzlyStik can’t be beat. Very durable and well built.
