Best All Copper Cartridge for Elk & Whitetail Deer for a Tikka T3 .270?

I am resusitating this thread, as I'm finally ready to get new cartridges. Thanks for everyone's input.

FWIW, I don't reload, and I'm looking for the best factory solution. It sound like the Barnes 130 gn TTSX is the way to go.

One more question, will this be too light of a bullet for elk? Any concerns there? For years I shot Sako Hammerhead 156 gn cartidges in my Tikka .270 win. They performed great on both deer and elk.

You’ll be just fine with 130gr bullets. I like TTSX or Nosler e-Tip cartridges.

For .270 Win, I would try Hornady Superformance ammo with 130gr CX. I shot a large bodied 6x6 bull with that ammo and it was one and done….dropped where it stood. Complete pass through. That ammo was very accurate in my Tikka. The bullet leaves the snout around 3,190 fps from a 24” barrel.

Not at all. My 270 WSM with the 130 gr E-Tip is my “go-to” big animal gun. Many elk and oryx have fallen to this weapon and bullet, and I’ve never had to shoot an animal twice.
