What is everyone using for 60a blades? I plan on ordering some havalon replacement blades but figured I’d ask to see if anyone knew of better quality one, or maybe they’re all the same?

I bought an off brand for mine and they wouldn't snap into the handle. I just stick with Havalon since.

I would only buy Havalon. I’ve had the Gerber version and their blades don’t hold an edge long. This year I’m using a TYTO and their blades are better and they claim they are the same but I sure snap a lot In half sideways. Switch to a havalon 60A and no more snapping and blade seems sharper and stays sharp longer for me. Once I break the rest of these TYTO blades that came with the handle I’ll be buying more havalon 60A blades.

Another vote for havalon although I am developing a preference for 70a. Less pointy. I stab myself a little less and don’t slice up the animals as much.

I have been using a tyto a little and have noticed the same thing but thought I was nuts.

I couldn’t figure out what was going on because I never break blades after switching to 60A blade knives in 2013. Then I started paying attention to which blade I was grabbing.... I have an email or a post somewhere directly from TYTO saying they either use the same blades or there is no difference. My experience has shown otherwise.

If I can find the 70a I might give them a try along with the 60a.
you guys with the tyto knives liking them? Do you leave a blade on the handle then use a sheath?

I've had the 70A blades in the Amazon wishlist for going on a long while now... I'll probably stick with the 60As as they've been problem-free for me so far. I believe I ordered extra blades when I originally purchased my Havalon, I haven't burned through all of them yet to have to source others.

I'm currently using them on a Tyto handle

Yeah I haven't used mine much yet but just the little I've handled it, I like it. And yeah I leave the blade on and put it in the sheath.

I don’t use the sheath. I put the used blade back in the wrapper it came in and keep them in a little plastic bag so I don’t loose them.

All blades are not created equal. Doesn't matter what the company says.

Love my Tyto, have done a couple animals this year from turkey to a couple deer. I leave the blade on and put it in the sheath for storage. Cut myself folding up my Havalon one too many times and my havalon handle was black, which sucked. Also, I haven't broken a blade in a long time but just broke a Tyto blade that had gotten pretty dull while trying to push through hide. Sounds like I need to pick up some Havalon blades.

Just noticed this weekend and I'm curious if this is the difference...the Tyto blades are labeled "60" on the outside of the package. The Havalon blades are "60XT" or "60A" (which are 30% thicker than the XTs). Unsure if they just label them differently and they are actually the same blades, or if they are in fact a different model.

The blades that come with the Havalon are garbage, I assume the replacements are also. You can get 60A blades from any veterinary supply for cheaper and they are way better.
