Best 3D targets today?

Curious what folks think is the best 3D target in the game right now. I was a Rhinehart guy for years but their durability seems to have gone down over the last several years. Debating buying more 3D targets or just building my own block target out of foam mats and then ordering those deadnuts 2D targets to put over it.

I never could bring myself to shell out the coin for a full size 3D target. I did buy one of the Deadnuts targets last year and I love the practice sessions with it. I put my own layered foam target behind it. Very effective for training shot placement and giving a life-like sight picture. They can be a bit of a pain to setup though as you have to get your backing target up off the ground with some sort of stand or a hay bale or something and then it can be a difficult to pull arrows from the foam and still keep the whole thing stable. If you’re at home and have a lot of options for materials to build up your base it’s not a problem but I struggled a little bit with it in elk camp last year because I just had the one 24” square foam target. If you’re building your own layered foam target, consider making it tall enough to elevate your target to the correct height - like 40-48” if you’re doing the full size elk. Or
Stack a couple blocks like I did here…

Rinehart makes the best. I buy all the targets for my local range and I’ve tried a few other brands and nothing beats them for durability, especially with the replaceable cores.
I won’t buy any other brand. We have some targets that are 20+ years old that are still going strong because you can replace the core.

Rinehart is the king of 3d targets. I won't attend a 3d shoot that uses other target brands

Not all Rinehart targets are the same. They make (2) types of targets, Signature and Competition. My sportsman's club purchases only the Competition targets and they hold up very well. I purchased a Signature javelina for myself to practice for an upcoming hunt. Comparing the (2) Rinehart javelina targets (Signature and Competition), the Competition target is larger and wider and seems denser. I called Rinehart and they stated that there 'used to be a difference in the foam formulation, however now they are the same.' That being said, using the same arrows and same bow, I penetrate much deeper into the Signature target. The Signature targets are much cheaper so, I guess that you get what you pay for... If you are going to shoot a high volume of arrows, I would lean toward the Competition targets.

I definitely noticed that on my mini elk. The first insert I had on it lasted well over a year but the next two barely lasted 6 months a piece. And that was with adding foam to it. I also shoot a lot.

May have to pony up and buy one of the competition ones then.
