Best 10x binos for around $1,000

I’m really happy with the Zeiss conquest. Compared them with swaros in the field. Obviously not as nice but for the money they’re worth every penny
F'Real'Do! When I upgraded from some Vortex DB's 10x42.. to the ZEISS conquest HD 10x42? We're talking a very noticeable order-of-magnitude better!

The contrast, and especially the Depth-of-Field in the FOV!
Can't discount what that Depth-of-Field does for you!

Had the Vortex Vultures as my firs dip into 15s. OMG the narowness of the Depth-of-Field was VERY apparent in difference when looking thru the Vultures vs the Zeiss. Because of the narrow Depth-of-Field in the FOV.... ya end up having to fuss a lot more with the focus ring during the act of glassing. Whereas with the nicer binos... the Depth-of-Field (as well as everything else) shows you objects in decent focus for even more distance in front of and behind the object you initially focused upon. THAT.. is the time saver I mentioned. You'd have to experience going from the one to the other to fully appreciate what I'm trying to convey here.

my 10x42 conquest HD had the worst depth of focus of any binos I can recall.. They did have a very solid image quality when focused but a guy had to be on that focus wheel non-stop.

Under 1k, trinovids or monarch HG seem good.

If your a rifle hunter I would get the leica rangefinder binos.

I could never go back to a separate range finder and binos. I’ll sacrifice glass quality to have the ability to range much easier

I heard Zeiss was going out of business, don’t know if it’s true but definitely a consideration

Buy yourself a used pair of Swarovski binoculars in the Optics Classifieds here on Rokslide. You can buy solid, excellent condition 10X42 SLC's in that $1,000 + range. Hold out for HD glass if you can find some later model SLC's. Put them on a tripod and you're capacity to pick out game at distance will increase significantly. The Kowa Genesis binoculars in 10.5X44 are exceptional.

Maybe I'm biased because I'm a Maven fan boy, but I just dont think anything in that price range can do what the Maven B series can do.

Since no one mentioned them yet, I think the Leica Trinovid changed my life. They’re about $1050 and I couldn’t be happier with mine. Worth looking at if you haven’t checked them out.

That’s my pick also in that price range 100%. If you are talking NEW.

I'd also recommend upgrading your 10x first and waiting for a pair of 10x42 swaro slc's on rokslide classifieds. They will run around 1000 possibly less, which is a great buy for what you get. I've had mine for around 8 years and it's made a huge difference. Also, use the 10x42 on a tripod as much as you can.

This. Get used swaros or the Kowa Genesis. Kowa is probably the best glass for dollar out there.

Used Swarovski's. Probably as old as I am but it’s a night and day difference from the other “mid priced” glass out there I’ve used, especially crispness in lowlight.

I said this before, when I had only had them a week, but my opinion has improved in the two months I have been using my Leica Geovid R 10x range finding binoculars. They are crisp and clear. If you are going to have 10x binoculars, you might as well get the range finding with them. I got them from EuroOptic for a total of $1400 with tax and shipping. I think you could get a used pair for around a thousand.

If I was going to go for the absolute best glass, I would be looking in the 15-20x range.

That's interesting you saying that. The Vortex Vultures 15's I'd had were like that.. VERY NARROW Depth-of-field! I was soo happy when got my ConquestHD's because they don't have that issue!

If I'm focused on an object at distance X, I can still see things in quite good focus for a significant distance in front of, and behind of, the object at distance X.

You can get a Razor UHD in 10x42 new for right around 1100 bucks I believe? Of course, if you’re willing to go as high as 1500 you might, with a bit of luck, score a used Swaro EL 10x42-that’s what I’d do. The ELs are very nice and with everybody and his dog buying NLs the used EL market looks pretty fine these days.

Since nobody mentioned them, I'll throw the Leupold bx5's in the ring. Used swaro is absolutely the best answer for your price, but if you insist on buying new, and want a really good warranty, I love my bx5's. Compared to the vortex razors I think they have better edge clarity and the low light transmission is excellent. I've been able to glass whitetails under a bright moon from my saddle if I get up in the tree early enough on occasion.
