Bergara: Risky Buy?

The Sierra Wilderness has 6CM and 6.5 PRC in 20" barrels with 5/8x24 threads at a sub $1K price Pretty much plug and play. I had an HMR Wilderness 6.5 PRC that didn't meet my "Tikka accuracy" standards. It would always have a flier in a 5 shot group. I've been on the Bergara Facebook group for a long time and there are some head shaking QC issues popping up on there.

Is buying a Bergara a risky venture these days? The whole "Spanish gun making region" marketing is laughable. I really don't consider Spain to be a precision engineering powerhouse lol.

I owned a 6.5 Creed B14 HMR a few years back that shot lights out. I work behind the counter at a local sporting goods retailer and have sold quite a few Bergaras, haven't heard many complaints but there have been occasional issues. Their customer service is pretty decent however. One thing is that if you shoot out either barrel you won't be able to find a prefit, it'll have to be a Remage. A non-issue for some but if you intend to do any high volume shooting, its something to consider. The Sierra is essentially a hunting oriented cousin to the HMR. It balances well but is still not light by any means. So far reviews have been positive. That being said, I have never had anyone buy a Tikka and have an issue which says a lot. The extra cost is worth the assurance. Just my opinion.
