It’s about time to post an initial review of this rifle. Bergara Ridge Carbon wilderness in 7 PRC. It has a 22 inch carbon barrel that came with an Omni brake which I swapped out for a 4port Salmon River Brake. It is currently topped with a Trijicon Credo HX 2.5-15x42 with Talley Light weight 1 piece rings. I have had it for a couple months and have done 2 range trips with about 75ish rounds through it. With the Magpul bipod it weighs in at 9lbs 6oz.
The stock is decent, it’s pretty stiff with a slight rubbery feel to it but it doesn’t feel cheap.
Action is extremely smooth and the trigger has a crisp break.
The gun is a tac driver and will clearly outshoot me. With a 5 shot groups I averaged around .75-1 moa with Hornadys 160 CX, 1-2 moa with Hornady 175g ELDX .5-1 moa with Hornady 180g Match, and .5-1 moa with Federals 170g Terminal Ascent. All shooting off a bipod and rear filler bag.
I have done a 15 shot group with 180 ELDMs and it had a 1.5 moa grouping.
I have done 1 10 shot group with the 170 terminal ascents and it had a 1.25 moa grouping. (Had only bought 2 box’s to test out and still wanting to do some distance shooting once I got it dialed in.)
I have to say I am extremely impressed with Federals Terminal Ascent. 7PRC has been getting a bunch of heat because Hornady can’t deliver the speeds they promised. Clearly Federal is doing something right.
Hopefully I will be harvesting my first elk with this gun this upcoming season.
Also with this brake the 7prc recoil is extremely manageable and I noticed a difference between it and the Omni brake.
Next range trip will be a variety of distances and shooting platforms. (Standing, off pack, off sticks, and just overall more realistic to in the field shooting)
Will update it as rd count and more range trips come
